    Player Profile: Steele Jantz

    Fanatics -

Here at CF, we're very dedicated to pumping up our football recruiting coverage in the future. One additional piece of content that you'll see in the future is a football recruiting blog written by Trevor Enerson, aka Yaman3. The guy is an absolute football recruiting junkie and I really appreciate his participation. Here's Trevor's first installment, a player profile on Steele Jantz.

yaman3, very nice write up! I agree with everything you said, especially the part on if he can pick up the playbook that he may be the favorite to end up #1. I'd love to get a write up from you on incoming freshman QB Sam Richardson.

    Re: Player Profile: Steele Jantz

This guy has played one season of football as a starter (high school and junior college combined). One. And we are calling him the favorite going into next season?

Tiller is that favorite. He has been the number 2 for two years now. And don't get me wrong, I have not been overly impressed with Tiller, but to me his resume is by far better than Steele's.

This seems like the message board hype machine in full effect, and I don't think that is fair to anyone, Steele included.

Means the kid has a lot of potential. Do you remember a certain someone named Wesley Johnson? Besides how dare you question yaman3, he knows all.!

To bad his last name isn't Johnson. Every girl in America would want to hook up with Steele Johnson.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

It will come once he signs his letter. That's how I plan to do it this year. Next year, as we get verbal committments, then I will do the profiles but for now, they will done as they sign. That does mean there will be another one coming shortly.

I agree Tiller is the favorite but when I look at Steele and the fact that he was the #3 JUCO QB after playing just one season at the position I have to think that he could challenege. They key will be picking up the offense. I think the tools are there but you can see in other threads I thought it was ridiculous not to consider that he has to learn the system and I believe that will be his biggest hurdle.

Nobody is naming Steele the starter. They are just saying the obvious. College coaches don't bring in JUCO's to sit the bench. They bring them in expecting them to compete for the 2 deeps.

I will argue with you on Tiller's resume being FAR better than Steele's. How so? Sure he has started Big 12 game's but we have scored 6.3 PPG when he is the starter. He hasn't shown that he can lead a team yet. Even though Steele was playing JUCO which is nowhere near the Big 12, he has shown he can lead a team which is huge for a QB

A 2-minute YouTube video is more than enough to know everything there is to know about a player and exactly how good he'll be at Iowa State. Especially if a "recruiting junkie" says it is so. All hail ___________ (insert latest commit's name here).

Fair enough, I understand your rationale. I think saying he will challenge for the job is more than fair. I guess my biggest concern is that in his video he never guns the ball into a tight spot, its all rainbows.
