    Different School, Same Scenario

I was surprised this hasn't been brought up before. But how would the scenario this week with the Iowa Football program been handled if it were to occurred at Iowa State and CPR?

Not looking to start a flame war, but just an open discussion on the two schools' approaches to the same situation.

You'll always have some people who are objective and you'll have some who will have their judgment clouded by dislike or even hatred.

We've seen some ISU fans who were happy when Iowa City was flooded and Hawkeyes fans who were happy when Ames was flooded.

    Re: Different School, Same Scenario

Maybe it is just my perception; however, Rhoads and Pollard seem to be much more open than Ferentz and Barta and are much more likely to "tell it like it is". The bottom line punishment and end results may have been the same had the situation occurred at ISU; however, IMHO, I think we would have a better idea as a fan base of what actually had been going on. I do not think the ISU program is as shrouded in secrecy as the Iowa program.

Kirk "The Shadow" Ferentz has it figured out - how to make $5M and fly under the radar.

    Which Scenario?

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

    Re: Different School, Same Scenario

I'm guessing that the outcome would have been similar, but it would have been handled much differently. Ever since his arrival, Pollard has had the policy of getting in front of stories. If you are going to get information, it will come from the AD's office. If an investigation is happening, they inform the public as it starts rather than waiting until it is over to fill people in. That prevents 90% of the rumor mills and seems to leave people much more trusting of what is going on.

First, no one knows for sure, because this kind of scenario hasn't happened under CPR.
Secondly, CPR has only been here two years, so if the players who got in trouble were not his recruits, then less blame goes on him for bringing in bad apples. KF has been in Iowa City for an eternity. He owns responsibility for all of his recruits and any kids with poor character were brought in under his watch and with his sign off.

I think the major beef with KF and Iowa at this point is that, despite a MAJOR arrest and (possibly related) other minor issues, there seems to be little sense of concern from Iowa or Iowa fans.

It seems like the Iowa football program does not know of any issues, because they don't WANT to know of any issues.

I think CPR may be that much more in touch with his players, ebcause he is less of a CES head coach and more of a hands-on guy.
