New Highlights for Sam Richardson (QB)

Looks like these came out last month. Still looks very impressive, maybe a little thin for the Big 12 right now. Has good footwork, and a quick release. It looks like he improved his pocket presence over the last year. Very excited about him.

    Fist off, 1:45, haha.

I commented in the Jantz thread yesterday that I didn't see enough of the quick tough throws in most QB videos. In this one, I see them and they are good. I wish this kid was going to be here this spring because I htink he could compete for the spot next year. He's looks like he will be a good player.

One of the things I thought was most impressive was how he kept his eyes down field when he was under pressure.

He's going to be a good one with some time.

I'm actually pretty impressed with his form and technique. It's not amazing, but good for that age.

Re: New Highlights for Sam Richardson (QB)

With his skill set he is going to thrive in this system.

He's accurate on those quick slants that we like run. He is shifty in the pocket and seems to have good pocket awareness. Throws well on the run and has touch on the shorter passes. Looks like he has a strong enough arm to throw deep and does it accurately. Also possess enough speed to make gains on the ground.

What impresses me most it looks like he has a great grasp of coverage and where to put the ball based on the defense. Some of those passes he looked once and through it quickly like he knew where his guy was going to be open.

Re: New Highlights for Sam Richardson (QB)

More than anything, these highlights confirm that most hs defenses are overmatched by a decent spread offense. At least by the college level, teams are able to go with 4 or 5 guys who can cover and hold their own.

Most of the defenses in the videos looked to feature 4 or 5 LB types who didn't have the speed required to either cover a receiver or rush the passer. I saw too many defenses that tried to stop the spread with a 4-4-3 with one safety that usually ended up in no-man's land, or worse yet, a 6 man DL.

Richardson did display some solid potential, but it will take a big adjustment to get used to the speed of a D1 defense.

Re: New Highlights for Sam Richardson (QB)

Wow, I think the coaches found a real diamond in Richardson. I like adding Jantz to give Richardson some time to get physically ready for the Big 12, but who knows, he may be a factor his first year. He reminds me of a little faster version of David Archer, same great arm, footwork, and pocket presence.

Re: New Highlights for Sam Richardson (QB)

Looks good, but let's not hand him the starting job just yet. In a perfect world, Jantz, Tiller, and/or Capello could capably hold down the fort next season and allow this kid to redshirt for a year. I guess time will tell.
