    Mid-major watch

College basketball: Mid-major watch - ESPN

Nice read about some mid-major basketball teams to watch.

Oh, and the ISU vs UNI game made his "favorite mid-major wins" list at the bottom of the page.

Man I wish we had that one back.

Objectively, I really don't know why that game would make a "favorite" list. UNI was favored in the game and should have been, considering what they've done the last few years (despite the ridiculous sense of entitlement that some ISU fans have that says that only Iowa State is allowed to have a good basketball team within the state boundaries).

I would hope that list has changed after the results of last night with Oakland winning at #7 Tennessee and Drexel winning at #21 Louisville.

Is Oakland considered a "mid-major" though? I think they would be classified as a small school.

I think they are in the same conference as Butler right?

I've always thought the term mid-major just meant any non BCS team. I suppose I could be wrong about that though.

Incorrect. Oakland plays in the Summit League which includes basketball powerhouses Centenary, IPFW, IUPUI, UMKC, ND State, Oral Roberts, SD State, Southern Utah, and Western Illinois.

Those powerhouses are better than half of our wins though.

Valpo used to be in that league, that's how they got into the dance 5 straight times. They moved to the Horizon league and are having a tougher time- I dont think they have beaten Butler in 4 years.
