    Iowa Western Community College

Does anybody have any knowledge of players we are keying on for next years class from IWCC? I'm amazed at how this program has been built in just a couple of years with major D-1 caliber players. I don't know why we (or Nebraska) haven't been able to land these kids.

Pretty impressive list of kids for a new program in this year's class:

    Re: Iowa Western Community College

You have to wonder if our staff doesn't get along with theirs for some reason. They have a lot of players with major offers, but ISU is nowhere in the mix...even at positions where ISU is recruiting JUCO. I know that their coach came from NIACC, so I wonder whether there is a prior relationship. ISU seems to place players at Iowa Central and Ellsworth, so maybe they just need to put a few guys there to get in the door. Either way, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

I go to IWCC and Rhoads has been at practice twice I believe (to evaluate the O Linemen I was told), so the staff has some interest.

So great athletes are coming through here, especially in the secondary.

I believe Iowa State wanted the Waters brothers to walk-on after they graduated from St. Albert's, but decided playing immediately at a JUCO was better for their longterm development.

When created, the Iowa Western program was supposedly going to be a direct feeder to Nebraska. That, however, has not happended and Iowa State should take advantage of some top-notch recruits.

This is true and Osborne was hired introduced as a consultant to the program when they started out. I also seem to recall that either Osborne or someone with Nebraska connections helped with a donation to provide equipment and uniforms to get the program off the ground. I agree that there hasn't been any obvious benefit to Nebraska thus far.

Apparently, we need to do whatever it takes to get in with everyone there because they are coming up with some top talent.

    Re: Iowa Western Community College

The majority of the starters for IWCC were Sophomores(Redshirt Freshman) this year. Coach Strohlmeier has done a tremendous job down there, recruiting in great talent and coaching up the mediocre talent they bring in.

Although I can't think of a whole lot of prospects coming out of IWCC next year. Maybe Jake Waters and Jalen Singleton but that's about it. They have similar philosophies on O and D with Iowa State. It would be nice if it could be a feeder school in the near future.

    Re: Iowa Western Community College

I just can't believe that IWCC's best 3 players (Ebert-DT, Stoudt-QB, and Hendricksen-C) are the positions that ISU needs most for next year in my opinion. If I'm not mistaken, all 3 of these kids are Iowa boys and all 3 of them are going at least 1,000 miles away from the state

    Ebert---Oregon
    Stoudt---Ole Miss
    Hendricksen---Rutgers

I don't know about Matt Waters, but I do know Jake Waters really impressed the staff and they wanted him to walk on. If he doesn't get any good offers after next year I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a shot at walking on here. He's been an Iowa State fan his entire life.

We didnt want their QB. We looked at him a little bit, but hes not the type of QB were looking for.

    Re: Iowa Western Community College

Ebert would've definitely helped us out, and started right away. But look at who else was recruiting him. Oregon? Florida? He probably wasn't coming to Ames. He grew up in Iowa City, too.

And Hendrickson is arguably one of the best JUCO centers in the nation. He would have definitely helped us out and started right away.
