Notice Virginia is slotted for an at large bid to this point. This could be a monumental win for this years team. It is our last real non-conference team and on the road. If we get to that 20 win mark this is one that will be a quality win.

So would a win over Kansas . But i agree, this would be a big win for this years club. Not just on a "quality win" stand point, but just to get some momentum going off of a good win going into conference play. Then the real challenge begins.

If Virginia makes the tourney, they will have earned it. Their non-conference slate includes Stanford, Washington, Oklahoma, Whicita St, Minnesota, Oregon, Iowa St, and LSU. I know some of those teams are "down" as far as BCS levels go (Oklahoma, Oregon, Iowa St), but still, that is 8 quality level teams. Oh yeah, then they play 16 ACC games. If they can get to 20 wins playing 23 BCS teams and one of the better mid-majors, then they deserve a trip for sure.

Ya that is a daunting schedule, and possible a team that gets in with 18 wins or more. I'm very excited for this game as I believe this is a good measuring stick for our team and B12 play.

It would be cool to win at Virginia, regardless ... win on the road vs. an ACC team, considering the level of transition w/ ISU's program this season.

If UVa continues to have legitimate tournament chances as the season wears on, that's even better. (I would guess that won't happen, but I have no crystal ball not a reliable one, anyway).

    Re: Latest ESPN Bracketology

This expanded 68-team field thing still bugs me.

I'm not so much against expanding (OK, I am, but that's another thread), but they should have made a choice either make all the "play-ins" as 16 seeds, or all of them at 11, 12 or 13.

    I know that's off-topic regarding the OP, but ...
