ISU/Iowa bball game quotes history in Register...

They left out one of my favorites...from 2000.

Eustachy, who is 1-2 against the Hawkeyes with both losses coming at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, opened his postgame press conference by saying, "God, I hate this place. I just want to throw up."

Reading the register quotes just reminded me how "reserved," or maybe I should say lame, today's coaches/athletes are wnen it comes to quotes. In the pre-internet days, personalities really came through. There's no more zingers, only polite compliments. Maybe more mature, but so much more BORING.

    Here's the Register quotes....

I've actually been kind of hoping that Iowa improves under their new coach too and we make this a big, nationally relevent game again.

This ties the record for the worst defeat in Hilton History; thanks Larry; Iowa had 7-new roster players ...(.and Alford finished up at Iowa with a winning record against you).

I was at the game at Carver when Eustachy benched Fizer for the rest of the game after Fizer received a tech in the first half. He taught Fizer a lesson. I believe Marcus never received another tech again and developed a great deal of respect for Larry over the rest of his career.

Stinson, on the other hand, seeming received one every game and ol' Wayne-O just let him do whatever he wanted.

check the 1996 score listed above. I don't think that score is right. I know we were up by 19 points in the second half but it shows up above we only won by 7. I did a google search, but I can't find the final score.

Shawn Bankhead scored 23 points and sixth-ranked Iowa Statebuilt a 19-point lead and held on to snap Iowa's five-game winning streak with an 81-74 victory.

Iowa never led in the second half, although a short jumper byRyan Bowen with 14:22 remaining cut the margin to 47-42. TheHawkeyes managed only one field goal over the next four minutes, however, as the Cyclones used a 14-2 burst to build a commanding61-44 cushion.
