    ISU entering Armonze Daniel's Picture

A new story has been posted on rivals that states that Iowa State is entering the picture for highly touted LB Armonze Daniel. He is looking to make an official visit. Here is his rivals profile:

    Armonze Daniel - Yahoo! Sports

Daniel is an upper tier three star and has offers from 6 BCS schools with interest from Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, and others.

Other upper end recruits that we are after include:

Curt Maggitt (not sure if we have a chance but are in his top 5)
    DeVondrick Nealy
    Makinton Dorleant
    Cameron Henderson
    Joshua Grady

I am very interested to see who the last couple of schollies will go out to and its nice to see some the recruiting process pick up in the past couple of weeks.

At 6'4, and some added weight he could turn in to a pretty good sized end. However, I have no clue what the staff has planed for him. Just my thoughts.

Im worried that we wont have enough room for these kids if they decide they want to go to Iowa State come late December/January.

And if that's the case, isn't that sort of a good thing??

It depends. It is a good thing because then the coaches get to choose who gets to come on board and who doesn't. The bad thing is if we don't have enough room and tell someone that were not taking them, it may affect future relations that we have that players coaches/high school.

Not necessarily. If Daniel or Maggitt want to come here and we don't have enough room for them i'd be ******. You would think that Rhoads would take them in a heartbeat but the way he's handing out schollies/accepting commits it really makes ya wonder.

I'm encouraged by some of the guys we're still in on within the last couple weeks. Some quality prospects.

This. To hear the interest we are getting from some top end prospects really makes me excited. I'd be very disappointed if we didn't get anyone on the above list.

We can/will make room for great players if we want them.

Seems Rhoads has about 2/3 of the class together and NOW is really getting in on the higher profile guys late in the game. I like that strategy. Seems he's after pure luxury pieces at the moment.

I am guessing the coaches have a good understanding of how many kids they can bring on. They would know who is transferring, who is graduating early, etc.

Why worry? Did Miss State worry when they went over 32? Would you rather just sit back and say we are done recruiting?

I cannot see how this is not the case. In November, CPR responded to a caller question, saying that when he and the staff plop down on the table a scholarship offer worth $100,000, if it's accepted, recruiting is done for that student-athlete. No soft verbals. No more visits. No contact at all with recruiters from other schools. Period. CPR was adamant about this with his tone of voice.

So, how can CPR and staff ethically lock down a player in a binding verbal agreement and then back out of the offer later down the road? They can't do it with creating a terrible reputation for themselves. Backing out would be hypocritical, it would hurt the program's credibility.

In September, CPR said the staff would likely sign 22 in this class, and betweeen three and six JUCOs. In November, CPR said the class would number about 20. Got 18 now. . . .

Although, none of us will be suprised, I'll bet, if we sign 25 plus maybe a grayshirt or two. And perhaps a few GS and JCs will count against last year's numbers. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.
