    Bring on the Hawkeyes...

Here's our cross state rivals lineup:

NO NAME POS Height eligibility Year Hometown (Last School)

2 Kamille Wahlin G 5-8 5 JR Crookston, MN (Crookston)
3 Kalli Hansen F 5-11 5 JR Olin, IA (Kirkwood CC)
4 Megan Considine G 5-8 5 JR Byron, IL (Byron)
11 Trisha Nesbitt G 5-6 3 SO Ames, IA (Ames)
12 Morgan Johnson C 6-5 3 SO Platte City, MO (Platte County)
20 Kelly Krei F 6-2 5 JR Iowa City (City)
    21 Kachine Alexander G 5-9 7 SR Minneapolis, MN (Benilde-St. Margaret's)
22 Kelsey Cermak F 6-1 7 SR Norwalk, IA (Norwalk)
23 Theairra Taylor G 5-11 3 SO St. Paul, MN (Central)
    24 Jaime Printy G 5-11 3 SO Marion, IA (Linn-Mar)
31 Hannah Draxten G/F 6-0 4 RS SO Fergus Falls, MN (Fergus Falls)
32 Jade Rogers F 6-0 1 FR Cedar Rapids, IA (Cedar Rapids Kennedy)

Iowa doesn't list their stats on the team page. We do know that the starting five are all averaging in double figures. They have a very short unproductive bench and if we can get Johnson in foul trouble our post players should have the door wide open for them. I would like to see Jess on Alexander at the start. Go Cyclones

    Re: Bring on the Hawkeyes...

Thanks for the update! I woke up this morning with a pit in my stomach about this game, I really want it to go well. I just bought my subscription to the Big Ten network online so I can watch the video stream on my computer tonight from New York. (Then I'll cancel the subscription.) I really do feel like we have a huge advantage with our talent and size and 3-point shooting ability, but all of that has a tendency to be neutralized in a road game in-state. I'm hoping our relentless attack inside will get them in foul trouble early and we'll be able to pound it in and kick it out for open 3s if they double. I agree with you, Schroll in Alexander to start, so Bolte doesn't have to work so hard on defense and can just shoot shoot shoot.

In the preview I saw "NO NAME POS" and thought that was a good way to start a rivalry game thread...but then I read on.

heard Alexander's minutes may be less than usual due to slight injury.

    any word on Pop's concussion?

what does BTN online have to do with this? must be thinking this is a boys thread.

That's interesting, where did you hear this? Printy said this week that Iowa is counting on Alexander a lot to hold Bolte down:

“Kelsey Bolte went off [last year],” Printy said. “[We will put Alexander] on her [to stop her]. She’s a great defender, so, hopefully, she can shut her down.”

Here are the stats comparing the two teams:

Scoring offense: Iowa 74.2 ISU 62.0
Scoring defense: Iowa 59.4 ISU 50.7
Scoring margin: Iowa +14.8 ISU +11.3
FG percentage: Iowa 40.1% ISU 41.3%
    FG percentage D: Iowa 35.6% ISU 31.5%
FT percentage: Iowa 80.4% ISU 68.2%
Rebound margin: Iowa +5.4 ISU +6.6
3 pointers per game: Iowa 7.1 ISU 7.9
    3 point percentage: Iowa 27.6% ISU 39.9%

Pretty evenly matched, the key will be if Iowa can get to the FT line a lot and if ISU can make their 3's.

I believe it was in Bludder's weekly press conference before their last game. More of a "monitoring" situation is the impression I got.

often the best defense on a good scorer is making them work hard on defense. Run her through screens galore Kelsey.

Keep the subscription 'til after the men's game. I had already purchased it for the wrestling dual, only way to see it. That's the bad thing about the Cy-Hawk Trophy, so many of the events fall there this year, and back next. Home team has a big advantage.
