    6-6 bowl teams

How many 6-6 teams didn't make a bowl, if any? How many of the 6-6 teams that did get a bowl had to win their last game to get the 6th win? Just wondering how close it came to a 5-7 team making a bowl and I'm too lazy to do the research myself.

Two teams didn't make it. Temple (8-4) and Western Michigan (6-6)

Wait, why is Temple left out at 8-4, am I missing something? Didn't they beat BCS bound UConn?

I'd have to guess it's because they play in the MAC. If there aren't any bowl
tie-ins, then I'm betting that they weren't all that attractive.

Temple misses out on bowl appearance despite 8-4 record | Philadelphia Inquirer | 12/06/2010.

Looks like it, late season losses to blow the MAC. UConn and Army wins though, I feel bad for the seniors.

    Re: 6-6 bowl teams

It is too bad for Temple, and ironically enough this isn't something that can be blamed on a bunch of 6-6 BCS teams stealing bids from more worthy mid-major teams. The Sun Belt has three bowl eligible teams that are all 6-6.

I have to wonder how much of an impact lack of fan support might have had. Philly is a basketball town (besides the Eagles) and until the last couple of years Temple had been just awful.

We will play Temple anytime any place if they just let us practice. We can call it the Aw Shucks Bowl presented by Kia.

I hear Jack Trice Stadium is lovely this time of year. ISU could also let Temple wear their home jerseys to even out the home/road thing.

I just got an image of Philadelphia football fans pelting Santa with snowballs...

Except that it is counted as a win?

How is that different that saying the 2 pt. conversion pass was soooo easy that he should have made it so we are 6-6?

    Dumb logic. Iowa is 7-5.

No different than any of the other losses? Hell I could pick something out of each loss and say the other team got lucky as hell that Iowa did whatever for that team to win but I won't.

I'm not going to deny that Iowa caught a break, but there were plenty of other games that they didn't get the break as well, this isn't an excuse as Iowa wasn't what we thought they would be, but I would say more breaks went against them than for them. I guess you could say it evened itself out from all the breaks they caught last year.

And the breaks we caught last year could have at least partially evened out the breaks we didn't catch the year before, in 2008. You could keep going with that.

Anyway, I'm a firm believer in the theory that you make your own luck, whether good or bad. Yeah, sometimes things are out of your hands, but more often than not, good or bad luck is the by-product of what we do or don't do on the field of play.
