    Hoyt Sherman Place

Taking my wife to see something for Christmas, something she's always wanted to see, soooo. Is parking difficult? I've only ever driven by there.

    Parking areas:

Hoyt Sherman Place Des Moines Iowa Directions Parking

Also get off @ MLK Parkway and turn on to one of the side streets to avoid all of the morons, it is a great place to go for concerts etc. If you have some extra time I would suggest walking around the inside looking at some of the different things they have there.

I've always had good luck parking on a street a block or two over - - as long as you're okay with the walk. My observation on parking in the lot is that it's a cluster when the show is over.

Thanks, I saw the parking diagram but functionally wondered how well it works.

I'll have to remember that, be nice to take in the different aspects of the building, what sort of things?

make sure you stop by Carls Place (17th & Woodland) for a couple of drinks... be careful in the bathroom though as they tend to have holes in the floor... still a lively joint though

    Re: Hoyt Sherman Place

Hoyt Sherman Theater is an awesome venue and we are very fortunate to have such an impressive place for live performances in DM. To your question, like most venues in DM, there is plenty of parking as long as you don't expect to be able to park next to the front door. The parking lot may fill up quickly, but there are plenty of side streets to park on. Go ahead and take the previous poster's advice and drop in a Carl's (that way you can just park in their lot or a nearby street.

We parked across the street, had no problems at all. Getting out is easy as well.

Tour around the house. It's essentially a renovated old house, old-style rooms, older furnishings. It's really a neat place to look around.

The sound may end up awkward and extremely loud. I think it was built with much quieter sound equipment than people use these days in mind.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
