which credit card has the best rewards?

i have excellent credit and assume i will be eligible for most any credit card (who isn't, right?). unless of course i need to be a member of a certain bank. i pay off my card every month and am just looking for the best rewards

i want a new credit card as my rewards are complete ***. i have spent over 35k on my card (in it's life) and am just know eligible for a free flight. pathetic.

any suggestions. i am most interested in flights and cash back as rewards.

Chase Freedom is good. 1% on everything. 3% - 5% on select purchases.

Agree. That's what we use too. $30 fee per card per year, but we usually have $500+ in rewards so it is worth it.

Chase Freedom was the best I could find. I don't have an annual fee on mine.

We didn't at first either. When I called to complain the lady said there was nothing she could do. I was prepared to cancel, but after doing research I realized that for our spending habits it was still the best deal.

WE have two chase freedoms (MC & Visa). Neither have an annual fee.

Southwest Rapid rewards by Chase. I spend 50K/year on business travel and my wife has one too.

Re: which credit card has the best rewards?

I have a rule to only have one credit card and % doesn't matter because 99% of the time I pay it off. I had an MBNA card since college and then they got sold to BofA. I hate BofA and they weren't doing anything for me. So after 15 years I decided to cancel once i got this offer.

I got a Citi Aadvantage Visa. They gave me the following after I spent $1000 in 4 months

1 free companion ticket anywhere in the U.S.
    40,000 miles
    2 Admirals Club Day Passes
Earn one AAdvantage mile for every dollar spent on purchases

The one mile for every dollar spent isn't that good of deal but the 40K and 1 companion ticket is a good deal. I already had 40K miles so the wife and I are going back to Italy next year. The tickets would have normally cost us $1,800.

We did still have to pay $400 in taxes but that's pretty standard for non-domestic flights.

Now that I've gotten all my rewards I'll probably wait a year or so and see if something better comes along. I used to always hang on to the CC for my credit score but I'm not really concerned about my credit score any longer.

mine didn't used to have a fee either and I think they added that when they "upgraded" us to the Saphire card. Still get the Ultimate Rewards so it more than pays for the fee but I was close to switching too but agree that, for us, it's still the best deal.

Re: which credit card has the best rewards?

I've got the AA advantage card as well, if you do pay for travel you get 2 miles per $1, or for gas, hotels, some other categories. That said, i don't know that it's any better than united or continental, so whichever airline you like has similar deals with upfront miles on use. After year one there's a pretty steep yearly fee, so that's the downside, but upfront it's a nice little perk to get that load of miles.

I've looked into Discover before and, unless they've changed something recently, it's not as good as Chase Freedom with Ultimate Rewards.
