I heard Temple (8-4), who beat BCS-bound UCONN didn't get a bowl game... doesn't make sense to me.

There's a whole thread here where someone is grinding on me about how awesome UCONN and their crap 8 team conference is. Sour grapes for wanting ISU to wuss out and move to an easy conference I'm guessing.

The MAC isn't great, but probably deeper than it's been in quite a while. NIU, Temple, and Miami Ohio are all good to average, Toledo and Ohio not bad.

I think this National title game will be awesome. It could be the best since 04.

Outside of Catholics v. Convicts in the Sun Bowl and Penn State v. Florida in the Outback Bowl, it looks to be a pretty dull bowl season.

What about 05? Actually Texas vs. USC was the 2006 Rose Bowl.

There are a few matchups I'm excited about. I really thought on the field TCU, Oregon and Auburn all looked great nearly every week. In a logical world the matchup would be TCU vs. Oregon. In the real world we'll have the professional qb play in a game that will never really count.

Other than the title game some matchups I like:

Wisc vs. TCU, see two teams that should be top seeds in a real playoff

BSU vs. Utah, great matchup, should be good crowds with somewhat regional teams. Does BSU come out unmotivated or to prove a point (Nevada is 12-1) ... a talented Utah team can do some damage. To me the most interesting of the non-BCS games.

Iowa-Missouri, B10 vs. B12 is always interesting, plus I get Iowa fans not liking them for backing out of their non-conf game for no real reason. Also Pinkel is a jerk crybaby.

Illinois-Baylor, have a feeling that could be a blowout for B12 over B10

KSU vs. Syracuse in NYC, see what we barely missed out on

WTF BOWL - Nebraska rematch with Washington they blew out on the road already.

I think I agree with you guys, this is really looking like a rather uneventful bowl season.

    What? Why?

Auburn had a very tough schedule and showed up an WON every week!! They deserve to be there more than all 118 other teams.

That said, the BCS has some major issues:

    Should UConn be there? NO

Should Boise? I guess not, but they fell all the way down to the Liberty bowl. wtf??

Why isn't it Stanford VS wisconsin in the rose bowl?

and there aren't 10 BCS quality teams in the country...

and there should only be BCS games in january

Auburn easily played the toughest schedule of the 3. They beat LSU, Arkansas, Bama, South Carolina twice, Miss State, Clemson and Georgia.

Auburn has played great. Just saying this is a game that is not going to count in a year or two anyway. Also it's a little silly to just dimiss TCU after the way MWC teams have performed in bowls, there was only one game they didn't deliver a beatdown.

Since there's a third (and possibly 4th the way Wisc is playing to close the year) deserving team, I'd rather watch a game that actually counts.

That term brings back memories. When I was a kid, Miami vs. Notre Dame was easily the biggest game of the year from 1988-90. It will be fun to see them knock heads again.

    Games I want to watch...

Oregon vs. Auburn - this is going to be epic, think USC-Texas

Wisconsin vs. TCU - the non AQ qualifier takes on the best 1-loss team. TCU can show they're for real

Arkansas vs. Ohio State - Great OSU defense takes on an NFL ready QB

Boise State vs. Utah - I expect a lot of fireworks from two previous BCS busters.

I agree that Auburn and Oregon both deserve it the most. Do I however also think that Wisconsin is probably the best team in the country, but got to prove it all season which both Auburn and Oregon did. Just wish there was a playoff this year more so than the last few, just because there isn't a clear cut best team. I think that there are probably 6 or 7 teams that could win it all in a playoff. Would have been great to see.

2 - Not the fault of the BCS that the WAC has some crappy bowl tie-ins

3 - The BCS has a rule that states every couple of years the Rose Bowl is required to take a non-AQ team because the Rose Bowl is the only BCS bowl that has tie-ins with two conferences instead of one like the others.

4 - Again not the BCS's fault that there aren't 10 quality teams to satisfy you

5 - Another thing that the BCS has no control over. Other bowls have seen that there is money to be made by spreading the bowl games out, so they did that.

I am not a BCS apologist in any way, but the only job of the BCS is to produce a National Championship game. Usually there is a debate over which teams should be involved, but for the most part the BCS accomplishes it's goal. The NCAA and college football in general could do away with the BCS in favor of a playoff or go back to the original bowls from 15+ years ago and go back to awarding split championships.
