    FOOTBALL RECRUITING: Devin Lemke news

Just spoke with ISU commitment Devin Lemke out of Iowa Falls. He is listed as a defensive end but Iowa State originally recruited him as an athlete. He was on his official visit this weekend, where it was decided that he would start his career in Ames at the tight end position. I'll have more on this later this week. Thought I'd pass the word.

Interesting. Kind of hoping he would be a DE though.

No. It sounds like he was recruited as an "athlete" originally. I guess the staff let him pick where he wants to play. That was tight end. I'll have quotes for you all tomorrow. Working on commit story now.

not true. late 30's and have it totally dialed in

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Seems, iirc, kids usually are given the choice of position to begin their college career, particularly when they're involved in development the first year or two, like DL's and OL's are normally.

My "worry" is that David Irving will prefer to work at tight end, too, since he came on at that position this fall. I've been fantasizing about a 6-foot-8, 270 pound DE with a wingspan like a California condor making life difficult for quarterbacks.

Anyone have inside knowledge about what position DI is most interested in?

Or anyone with out a grandfather or without TVland as a part of their cable package! Love that show, but my wife doesn't get the humor.
