    Wii games?

Ok, so spur of the moment, I got one of these fancy Wii's.

What games are fun for it? Do they have ncaa football or am I stuck with Madden? I think I will be getting Tiger Woods when it comes out in a few weeks.

    Re: Wii games?

I have Tiger Woods 07 and its a lot of fun. Its hard but fun.

Madden is your only football option right now.

Mario Kart I hear is fun although I haven't played it yet. Paper Mario is a good one if you like the Mario Bros. Series.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of games to choose from yet with the Wii.

    Re: Wii games?

Unfortunately you're stuck with Madden. I only have Wii Sports, Wii Play, Cars, Madden '07 and Mario Party 8.

I really enjoy Wii Sports. Wii Sports is much more fun when you're not playing the computer.

Madden '07 sucks when you're playing somebody else because of they way you have to select the plays. When selecting your plays, you point the remote at the play you want. The defense can just wait to see what play you selected then select the appropriate defense.

We just got Mario Party 8 last night. I played 1 game with my wife last night and it was kind of fun. The controls for the mini games were pretty intuitive.

    Re: Wii games?

I have played (bought or rented) quite a few games for the Wii, and I feel the games come in 2 types: the pick up and play for 30min- 1 hour type of game and the more "traditional" games. here is my list of favorite Wii games I have played so far

Games I enjoyed (longer "traditional" games)

    1. Legend of Zelda-TP (zelda is my favorite game series. great game)
1b. Resident Evil 4 Wii edition
    2. Super Paper Mario (The wife said this game reminded her of the original mario bros games to a certain extent with 2-d side scolling aspect)
    3. Excite Truck (really fun but short game)
    4. SSX Blur
    5. Sonic & Secret Rings

Games I enjoyed (shorter pick up and play type)

    -Wii sports
-Wii Play (much more fun than I anticipated, plus a controller comes with the game
    -Rayman
    -Warioware Smooth Moves

    Games I didnt like

    - Super Monkey Ball (I really liked this on the Gamecube, something wasnt right for me with the Wii version)

    - Tiger Woods, I had a hard time hitting the ball straight, (I cant hit it straight in real golf either, so perhaps it was too accurate Not a bad game, I just wasnt very good, plus I only rented it, so I didnt have time to refine my skill.

    - Mario Party 8: For my money, I thought there were better multiplayer games out there (see rayman and warioware). Didnt feel much different from the previous 7 except for the new controls.

    Re: Wii games?

    I agree with BigDISU1.
Get WiiPlay for the controller and tank game.
    Get Zelda for adventure.
Get Resident Evil because it is arguably one of the greatest games ever made (albeit for the last generation) and the Wii controls are great with it.
Rayman and Warioware are quirky and fun.
Elebits sounds interesting. Some people also like things like Trauma Center and Cooking Mama Cookoff.
Metroid Prime 3 comes out in August and is supposed to be beautiful.
This Fall & Christmas season, Mario Galaxy (true sequel to Mario 64), MarioKart, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Nights come out. Plus the new Madden. It is a great lineup.
If I can finish Resident Evil and progress on Zelda, I may get Metroid Prime 3. I have never played one but have been craving an FPS for a while and won't be getting a 360 or Halo 3 until the price drops considerably.

    Re: Wii games?

Legend of Zelda by far my favorite. But I love Zelda.
Raving Rabbids is fun and a great drinking game.
I have Resident Evil 4 for the cube which I absolutely love, have not played Wii version, however I hear there is a new one coming out specifically made for the Wii.
    Excite Truck is fun.
Mario Party 8 is fun with friends.
    Red Steel not so great.
I want the new Smash Brothers and Mario badly.
Developers have not yet tapped the full potential of the Wii but they will.

I was so sure there would've been a Jedi Knight game announced for the Wii already. C'mon, get to it, Lucasarts!

Probably just that extra controller along with an extra nun-chuck attachment (whatever they call it)... depending on how many people are going to want to play at once.

    Re: Wii games?

Pick up a second nunchuk for sure. Need two wiimotes and two nunchuks to play the simplistic, but highly addictive, tank game on WiiPlay.

Wii Resident Evil is also only $30. Check out WiiFit online.

LucasArts is working on a Star Wars game. Whether it will satisfy your Freudian desire for sword fighting is another question. (I want the game too.)

You will also want to get either a gamecube controller or classic controller for playing virtual console games. I prefer the gamecube controller as it works for more games. Get a wireless one if possible.

Download the internet channel when you get home.

    Re: Wii games?

They make rechargeable batteries for these now so look into that. We also enjoy Mario Party. We got Monkey Balls, but its only good for parties as well. Oh, Wii Play is a good way to get anothe controller, that is if it is the boxed combo version, not just the game.

    Re: Wii games?

The countdown is on! With only 620,000 units seperating the 360 and Wii, and the Wii selling around 200,000 units per week more than 360 worldwide, we should see total Wii sales pass Microsoft's console in around 3 weeks time! So in 9 months the Wii will have sold as much as it took Xbox360 to sell in 21 months!

SSX took awhile to get the hang of when it came to the "uber" tricks, which are critical for high scores. I had to practice for quite awhile to even pull off one big trick. There is no feedback onscreen to let you know if you are doing the hand motions correctly when playing the game (although you can go to the pause menu and practice). So it becomes a timing issue with when you come off a jump and how fast (and precisely) you replicate the particular hand motion to pull off a big trick.

But once I finally got one right, the rest came pretty easily. IMO it was satisfying to pull off the tricks because you actually feel like you are kinda doing the tricks and not just pushing buttons
