    My thoughts on today's game

Overall, I thought we played pretty good basketball. Other than the large turnover number we played pretty decent basketball. We were only out rebounded by 3, and with our size that's a positive. Here are a few things I saw:

    1) I don't think we call out ball screens well enough. I saw DG twice and Bubu once run into a screen going full speed, like they didn't know it was there.
    2) I think we need to get Ejim the ball in the post. We only got 4 points out of him today. And when he does not score, he gets frustrated and often finds himself in foul trouble.
    3) I was very impressed with Jordan Railey today. I thought the young man played well and gave us a good lift.

On a side note, anyone have an update on DeMarcus Phillips?
I know he hasn't played many min, but we will need him to add to our depth. Right now we are sitting on 9 guys.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

We would have played better basketball with coach Mac as the coach..........................just kidding. I think we just need to score more points and then we win, thoughts?

DP has to decide whether he wants to be a part of this team or not. At this time it is questionable as to whether he is "all in".

I agree, more points are always a plus. Defense needs to eliminate the hiccups (aka we gave up 20 points in the first 8 min of the game).

Well when they hit three pointers like it is going out of style that will happen, but we need an inside game BIG TIME.

With no inside game really right now more pick n rolls would benefit us and pressing more, but do it when some of the starters are out so you do not tire them out for the offensive end of the floor.

CFH said at Thursday luncheon that Phillips was left behind to finish a paper that was due.....Beyond that , he did not indicate his future status with the team, good or bad.

DG needs to realize at the end of the game there are 4 other guys on the floor that can make plays. 2nd game in a row where he plays 38 good mins followed by 2 bad ones.

Re: My thoughts on today's game

DG seems to embody all that was the McD era...The way he carries himself throughout the course of the games seems eerily similar how McD handled each scenario....kind of like how we always seemed to crumble late in games when we were neck and neck in the heat of the moment we'd make one killer mistake....with DG it seems like we always have a 12 gauge pointed dead on at our foot....

Re: My thoughts on today's game

I agree that Diante feels a need to do too much at crunch time. Jake Anderson can really help shoulder the load that Diante has tried to carry.

I also felt that Jamie VB was just going through the motions on Saturday. Granted the fouls took him out of his game while limiting his minutes. But, the thing I really noticed, was a lack of hustle up and down the floor. With the limited minutes, Jamie needed to be flying down the court, attracting or getting behind the defense, and ideally getting some easy points for us. I know too that he is not a banger, but rebounding is going to be vital to any success we have. Jamie, with fresh legs and a little more desire, might have been the edge we needed to win.

I thought JVB played well. He was banging and working hard down low making some nice shots from the post. He is doing things now that he wasnt 2 years ago.

Re: My thoughts on today's game

I understand that we're putting the ball in Diante's hands, as we should, but geesh take better care of it in the last 5 minutes of the halves. At least two absolutely careless turnovers down the stretch or we probably get a W instead of a L.
