    Interview with Hiawatha Rutland

They Call Him Hiawatha | ISU Football

It's a follow up from a summer interview in which Hiawatha actually called the Texas win. This guy is comedy gold, and it's always interesting in my opinion to see former players' thoughts on the current state of the program. He's not exactly a fan of the spread...

you can tell the guys gotta lot of love the ISU - I liked this line at the end:

"... and if ISU is not playing I boycott college football"

Chief is a very comical guy, he is true ISU and all around great guy. He's tailgated with us many times already and our kids love him to death.

I hated the way his career ended with the knee injury at NIU we were at that game and he was still cracking jokes after all he had gone through that day!!

    Re: Interview with Hiawatha Rutland

Great stuff. I met Hiawatha when he stopped at our house with an ISU teammate I had coached when he was a little guy (he brought him over because he knew I was a big Hiawatha fan). Hi was smart, funny, and a great guy to be around, and I see he still is. And he's right, no telling what he might have done had he stayed healthy.
