IRVING, Texas – Iowa State linebacker Jake Knott, punter Kirby Van Der Kamp and tight end Collin Franklin were named to The Associated Press second-team All-Big 12 Conference squad by the league’s writers Friday. Jake Knott not being on the first team is a joke IMO.

Kirby is dirty. Weird to say, but I love watching him punt. If he doesn't improve one bit, we've got a damn good punter for 3 more years. If he does improve, we'll have one of the best in the nation.

Why? Having a **** load of tackles does not equate to being a good linebacker. It equates to having no one else making plays in this case. He and Klein, while both good, still run themselves out of a LOT of plays.

It equates to having 0 run stopping on the defensive line....

Eh, don't worry about Knott. He keeps improving and it will happen. He's got such a knack for being around the ball. He and AJ are going to be a lot of fun to watch for another two years, and Cyclone fans don't need any Big 12 honors to know their importance and worth.

Your right it doesn't but if I remeber correctly he had 5 picks or something like that too. So not only can he tackle but he can cover so that makes him not good.

Had we gone 7-5 the selections may have been different

I thought Kenny Stills had a chance at the second team, as well as Tony Jefferson, who looked like one of the best hybrid safeties in the league this year.

Sorry but you are wrong. The last 1/2 of the season Knott was damn near perfect. Klein ran himself out of plays but Knott was a top LB in the conference. Von Miller and Knott, top 2 LB's in the league.

Knott would run across the field to make tackles. He covered ground, closed holes, and his tackling became impressive. Throw in his INT's and forced fumbles and you have one of the best defensive players we have ever seen at ISU. The kid is that good
