    Kansas gets another gift!

UCLA just hit a three to tie the game, Kansas takes it the other way, gets the ball stripped, two players go after it and UCLA gets called for a foul with 0.7 seconds left. KU player hits a free throw for the win. What a joke. No way that should have been called! Typical KU officiating gift.

Got to swallow the whistle in that situation.

They got bailed out, it was a scramble for the ball. They usually don't call that even with 10 minutes left in the game, but they call it with under a second to go?

I love how Kansas fans think we boo a lot. The only thing you hear when watching a Kansas game is BOOOOOO.

    shocker

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

When? I watched the whole game. Didn't see the bailout you refer to.

Reed blatantly got pushed out of bounds when he threw the ball away right before the 3 that tied it.

Kansas must be bad if they letting UCLA play them close.

Someone's going to have to explain this to me - the replay shows that a foul occurred with .7 seconds left. OK.
But the time keeper only stops the clock when he sees an official raise their arm and blows the whistle. The clock continues until that happens.
I saw no hand raised by an official in the replay - they didn't have time to react yet. Yet they say the clock should stop at the instant the "shove" takes place? Huh?
I don't understand how the rules regarding stoppage of the clock changes when looking at the replay, vs. the other 39:59.03 of the game...

There was a whistle blown but I'm not sure where if came in relation to the clock.

    Re: Kansas gets another gift!

Seems silly for ISU fans to be complaining about this call, a subjective call. Didn't a poor, objective, call in a nearly identical scenario give ISU a win against Creighton?

KU got only 95 total minutes from its top 5 players, shot 16-30 from the line, and withstood career games from multiple Bruins, yet still won the game.

Fran said it was a good call, for what it's worth. Mario Little had possession, tried to shoot, and was bumped during his shot. It would have been called a foul in the 1st minute of the game, so the book says it should be called in the last minute of the game. Even if it was a bad call, and I'm not going to argue with you if you say it was, the refs were pretty bad both ways throughout the game.

Props to UCLA, though. They took advantage of KU's Las Vegas hangover. Tyler Honeycutt was phenomenal. He just had one of the great performances in the history of Allen. Josh Smith was a beast, and will continue to be if the refs let him use his size like that in every game.

I was surprised UCLA was able to play with them on the road, but all these performance will not be a good point of reference, cause they will probably look alot different/better with the addition of Selby shortly.

I'm just curious. Are you a KU fan? If you are can you tell your buddies that they boo A LOT. They should stop looking down on KSU and ISU for booing, when they do it just as much if not more.

Watch a KU game, and it sounds pretty much like this.
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fEjJ4Ecy9Q&feature=related]YouTube - South Park Rabble Rabble Rabble[/ame]
then add a chorus of boo's.

I wondered about that, too, rule-wise. As you said, replay clearly showed that the foul happened before the clock ran out, but the reaction time of the official to make the call happened after time expired.

I suppose if this were pre-video-review days, the call would have been allowed because when I saw it live, it seemed like the referee made the call before time expired. In slow-mo, he clearly reacted and made the call, but it's humanly impossible to call the foul and have the timekeeper see it and stop the clock in time.

One could argue that it shouldn't have been called at that point in the game anyway, but that's an entirely different issue I understand the concept of a referee not "deciding" the outcome by calling a foul at that juncture, but how many seconds into the past does that need to extend? Don't call anything iffy in the last 30 seconds? Ignore a punch to the face if it happens in the final 3 seconds and the score is tied?

As I said, that's an entirely different discussion.

I was actually quite surprised UCLA came that close, judging by results so far this year, and the fact KU had the referees on its side.

(Note: Jimlad is only for that last paragraph, not the rest of the stuff, in case anyone was uncertain.)

Ok, so basically no fanbase can ever question an official's call because everyone has been the beneficiary of an incorrect call before?
