The last to wear #40 was Mark Currie from Odebolt in 2007-08. Don't know why they discontinued it, but I always thought it was cool.

Did anybody really expect Chris to vote against the faux-hawk?

Not sure you could really top the guy from Hangin' With Mr. Cooper wearing the #40.

It would be a great tradition to carry forward. Really surprised it stopped.

I love it whenever TGIF is referenced. Well Done.

    Re: CF Mailbag: 12-2 Edition

Was it discontinued, or did we not have any Iowa kids to wear #40? I know that was part of the tribute, that it had to be a player born in Iowa.

I also believe that CFH said he wanted to get that going again in an interview around the time he was hired.

I thought Morgan Wheat wore it first or am I remembering incorrectly?

You are correct. Wheat wore it first than Hoiberg and Meyer after that I believe.

    Re: CF Mailbag: 12-2 Edition

I remember reading somewhere that they discontinued the #40 thing and replaced it with someone wearing Brian Peterson's number at some point. Not sure what his number was or if that tradition has continued.

Sorry, just saw the other thread. It was Brian Pearson.

He wore #3 and died of brain cancer in November of 97.
