    Computer Question

So, I have an old Dell laptop and it hasn't started for a year or so. Not sure why it doesn't start, not even in safe mode. So, I tried rebooting from the disk drive to reinstall windows, and a blue screen comes up and says, "The File acpi.sys is corrupted". Press any key to continue. So, I press a key and it spits out my disk.
Is that computer pretty much toast?

It might be for Windows. My suggestion is to install Ubuntu. You will find that it will work faster than when it was new.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this before, but I don't remember what I did about it. It could be a hardware issue (ie memory), but this sounds familiar as well:
