Good write up Chris, but i just don't see it being that close. Clones by 14+.

Looking at the matchup. The one way people will beat us is size and they don't have any on us. ISU will attack the basket relentlesly.

Re: The Breakdown: ISU @ UNI

    My breakdown:

    3 keys to the game:

    3) Stay out of foul trouble & limit UNI's trips to the line. These go hand in hand.

    2) Play with intensity and effort, especially on defense, for the whole game. Can this team play hard and bring the effort they have at home onto the road? I think keeping up the intensity will also be a key to stopping UNI from getting hot and shooting a very high percentage (although it didn't work against Creighton).

    1) Win the battle of styles. In games like this where the teams play two very different styles, the one who imposes their will on the other team and makes them adjust usually wins. I don't expect UNI to try to run with us, and we need to take advantage of that by sending lots of guys to the offensive boards, and getting out and running after defensive boards.

I think even if we win the battle of styles, this will be a very low scoring game. I said it before the Creighton game, and I was very very wrong, but I'm going to say it again: There is no way this team scores 60 on us. I think we win a close one 64-57.

Re: The Breakdown: ISU @ UNI

Our spacing this year on offense has been as good as I can remember. We need to keep that up. It allows for the drive pentration and opens up shots on a kick-out if the drive gets halted.

Another big factor to consider is how will UNI play JVB. He is one of the best shooters on our team. They will have to put a 6'6" O'Rear or Koch out on him on the perimeter. This will further open up the dribble drive. WE NEED TO ATTACK THE RIM. Nearly every player on this team that can play can dribble drive. Take it to the rim. Get the points or the foul....or kick out for the 3 ball if it isn't there.

    ISU rolls!

Can anyone answer why they are allowed to count the Coe win as a W? Obviously it won't count come March, why even schedule it?

Re: The Breakdown: ISU @ UNI

The five starters have been in double figures. That is a luxury. Three shoot the three. DG and Jake are aggressive on the ball. This team will be tougher to defend than the two man show last year.

Clones will struggle when they miss their threes. That will usually be on the road. Watch to see if threes go down in the first ten minutes.

Frankly, UNI players run to the ball like our players do instead of just jumping vertically. There should be some bodies on the floor tonight.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

Whatever the outcome I think this will be great to watch as a fan. Two teams that really hustle and get after loose balls.
