Wife...you're killin' me! Get on the HD!!

OK guys, who else can relate?

I was talking to a guy at work the other day and he mentioned how it drives him crazy when he walks into the room and finds his wife watching TV and is she's not watching the HD version of the channel. I laughed, because I experience the same thing at home all the time. My wife doesn't get what the big deal is. I then proceed to pound my head against the wall.

    Others?

Must have Mediacom or something...you can hide the SD channels on DTV/Dish if they have an HD equivalent.

    step 1. get a tivo

Is there a way to leave SD channels that don't have HD equivalents?

It kills me that I have a nice big TV that my kids seem to take over and watch cartoons on.

Re: Wife...you're killin' me! Get on the HD!!

I showed this thread to my wife, who I allege is guilty of this, and she said that HD "is like the emperor's new clothes."

    Sigh.

Happens to me every day. My wife says she "doesn't see what the big deal is" and doesn't like it because the HD channels are a little bit quieter on the TV she watches so she has to adjust the volume if she chooses an OTA HD channel.

I went home for Thanksgiving and my dad does it all the freaking time and it drives me nuts. Wtf is he paying extra for if he is going to watch it in standard def?

For all of you who have relatives who don't know the difference, show them a football game in HD. It helps if it is at a big stadium and on a big screen. I was skeptical for a little while after HD came out and then I went back to my parents' house and my dad showed me a football game on his 70" big screen. Now I hate standard def.

Funny stuff! My wife was bad at this too. After getting on her case for a few months she finally caught on that HD is the way.

After awhile, I had to hear her complain every so often about some channel not being in HD. Sice we got DirecTV (few months back - left Mediacom) I have not heard her complain!!

Ha! My wife an kids are terrible about this also. However, they also insist on recording about 4 hours worth of House and/or Ghost Whisperer each and every day, so I have learned not to complain. If they start recording that crap in HD, my DVR will fill up in no time.

Baseball convinced me, also, with our first HD TV.

As for the OP, yes, it happens here, too.

Happens all the time in my house. She'll on-demand movies on Showtime, etc. in low def too, when 9/10 times it's available in HD. Drives me friggin nuts.
