    Exactly. Why does anyone think that this is bad for the Big 12? Can someone explain to me why a massive bidding war over the Big 12 TV contract is bad for the Big 12?

    Would the Big East want 14? ISU gets left out of this scenario along with Mizzou. Me thinks K-State is a package deal with KU.

    We will see how this works out. The Big 12 needs to get to 12 I think and Texas has to lose their total power in this conference. As long as Texas holds all the cards, no matter what the TV deal, this conference will not be stable.

    Why wouldn't they? The original idea was the eventual super conferences. 4 conferences of 16 teams each.

    I guess I thought the math did not work out well after 12 teams. 12 teams gets you the championship game which is huge.

    Agreed KU is not leaving without fellow members of the Big 12 and rivals, ie ISU KSU and Mizzou

    What would be interesting is if the current Big East swiftly moved to 16, bringing in TCU, the 4 Big 12 schools and say a couple of ACC schools. All of a sudden with that kind of massive footprint, it could be insanely marketable to TV.

    Baylor would not be left in the cold either, natural rival for TCU. If the Big East did go this way it would be 16 teams.

    Re: Texas/ESPN and KU talking to the Big East

    Well, since this already coming up again, probably safe to say the big 12 is anything but safe...if somehow the leadership does get a feeling that Texas and the big 12 are going to open up the negotiations again, then it would be refreshing for the kansas schools, MU and ISU to preempt them and go the big east before they make their move. I am sure JP and his allies have that figured out though on what they will do and when if certain things happen.

    Just an idea but if they are serious about starting their own network and becoming the first "super conference" they could add Baylor and Central Florida as well.

    North
    Connecticut
    Rutgers
    Syracuse
    Villanova

    Central
    Cincinnati
    Louisville
    Pittsburgh
    West Virginia

    South
    Baylor
    Central Florida
    South Florida
    TCU

    West
    Iowa State
    Kansas
    Kansas State
    Missouri

    For football play each team in your division and two teams from each other division for a 9 game conference schedule.

    For basketball play each team in your division home and away and each other team once for an 18 game conference schedule.

    Having a division with two teams from Florida and two teams from Texas would be great for recruiting because each year every team would have at least one game in either FL or TX.

    An example of ISU's football schedule like this would be.

    UConn
    @Syracuse
    Cincinnati
    @Pittsburgh
    Baylor
    @South Florida
    Kansas
    @Kansas State
    Missouri

    An example of ISU"s basketball schedule like this would be

    @Kansas
    Kansas State
    @Missouri
    UConn
    @Rutgers
    Syracuse
    @Villanova
    Cincinnati
    @Lousville
    Pittsburgh
    @West Virginia
    Baylor
    @Central Florida
    South Florida
    @TCU
    Kansas
    @Kansas State
    Missouri

    Re: Texas/ESPN and KU talking to the Big East

    I'm confident that either one of two things happens:

    1) The Big 12 gets a big TV contract. No revenue sharing, everyone keeps what they make, Texas gets their Longhorn Network, and everyone is happy.

    2) Texas leaves and we go with KSU, KU, and Mizzou to the Big East.

    I'm fine with either.

    I actually really hope this happens. I am tired of always having to worry about what Texas wants to do and us possibly being left out in the cold. Also, I don't really believe this "great" TV deal that everybody is talking about with all the "great" money we will be earning. I would much rather be in a more stable conference with teams that want to be there and not in a conference that waits for the scraps of the Texas teams. Hopefully JP is leaning forward on this and has a plan in place in case another summer like last year happens.

    I was hoping in the summer that we would go to the Big East, was a little disappointed that we and the the 3 stayed.
