    Who has ski vacations planned?

Well its snowing in Iowa and it has me thinking about skiing this year. I am headed to Dillon/Silverthorne on Friday and it sounds like we are going to ski Vail, Copper, and Keystone and be back on Tuesday. I am jacked up. They have had a ton of snow so far so conditions look awesome. I am headed back to Steamboat 3 more times during the winter. It is nice to have 2 sister inlaws living out there. It is a La Nina year and that predicts a lot of snow for the entire winter.

What plans does everyone have? I would love to see Deer Valley and Alta in Utah sometime. They get 500 plus inches of pow every year.

In late Feb, a group of guys and I will head out to Dillon and hit up Keystone, Breckonridge and Vail. Nothing like skiing all day and outdoor hot tub and beer at night to relax the sore muscles!

The snow has been AWESOME so far this year. You are missing out though on not going to Breck, the snow has been better there than anywhere else. Keystone was pretty rough on Sunday, the back side was barely passable. Vail is pretty bad A right now, although Blue Sky isn't open yet.
I know Breck usually is awful but the Texans aren't out yet, so it is still pretty good.

Blue Sky opens on Friday!!! Thanks for the tip on Keystone. We can always swing down to Breck instead.

Breck was great when we went but was very crowded. Keystone was the hardest of the 3 I went to. Vail was my favorite. The back bowls = epic.

Breck has thinned out because they opened more lifts and will probably be crowded till Keystone gets some more snow.

Don't be afraid of A-Basin either. Place is allot of fun if you want Alpines and no people.

A-Basin is my favorite place to ski. Lots of skiing with not many people.

To answer the OP's question we are changing things up a little this year. We normally just head to Summit county and hit up the usuals about 3 times a year. This year we are going to hit Steamboat once this winter (worked there for a winter and haven't been back since), about 80% planned on hitting Big Sky in Montana, and then going to try a couple short weekend trips to Lutsen in Minnesota to see if it is worth buying a pass to buzz up on weekends in between the out west trips. I'm sure we will also hit up Summit county once or twice this year as well.

After skiing Summit County exclusively for the last 15 years or so (minus the winter working at Steamboat) we are just looking to try some new places.

I wish I were going this winter. Sounds like a record breaking year for snowfall!
And it sounds like a lot of you get the same pass as we do, PEAKS pass, good for Breck, Keystone, Vail, Beaver Creek, and A-basin.
I'm still looking for any full time jobs out there in summit county!!!

Re: Who has ski vacations planned?

I have been up 4 times so far this year (A-bay, Breck, Breck, and Keystone). Keystone did not have the best coverage in the back. I took quite a few rocks and stumps to my skis on Saturday. Additionally, some of the trees are starting to fall due to the beetlekill in the back. A-bay does not have much terrain open yet. Breck was great on both days that I went there. The T-bar and the imperial superchair are both open. It is a litttle icy at the top. Make sure you head out to chair 6 for your best attempt at some pow. I have not been to vail yet but I have never had a bad day at Vail.

Re: Who has ski vacations planned?

Anyone remember that Breck's trailmap last year had blue/black runs ( I assume a difficulty between blue and black) on peak 10? This year the trail map only shows all black on peak 10. Anyone know which ones were changed?

Found it. Looks like Breck changed all blue/blacks to either blue or black. Good to rememeber for when I'm there. I do mostly blues and a few blacks. Honestly sometimes its fun to take the longer slower greens to enjoy the scenary.

this. Was there yesterday and chair 6 was amazing. Most people just use that chair to get to the top of Imperial but drop off skier right, head as far as you can over, then down. Untracked freshies over there.
