    security camera's

Just wondering if anyone has installed their own home security camera system? We had a car burglarized and some pumpkins smashed this fall. I'd like to get some type of wireless system setup. I don't really want to buy some pre-fab system that comes with a router, DVR, and monitor. I'd rather keep it simple and have the camera's and some software on my PC to manage it all. Anyone done this or have any good suggestions?

Seems like all you need is a normal webcam and the right software:

I have honestly thought this before and why more people havent gone this route, but I haven't ever said anything cause I thought people might think I was crazy. Would give you immediate feedback instead of having to go back and watch the video.

Yeah, I hate to sound like a jerk but the day I thought about putting camera's around my home is the day I call the real estate agent. Maybe that chick from praire trail with the...well, nice earrings.

sorry but you do sound like a jerk. It could happen to anyone anywhere. I'm pretty sure I live in a safe town - just want to make sure we can catch the hooligans the next time.

The better question is WHO smashed pumpkins in Roland (and burglarized vehicles the next week).

    Re: security camera's

I don't know how the prices compare to the links other people have mentioned, but I have been going to monoprice.com lately for cables and I see they have some security stuff. Doesn't look like they have too many options, but they might have what you need.
