    House Hunting

Me and a couple buddies of mine are thinking about renting a house somewhere around campus or within reasonable walking distance for next fall. I checked craiglist and didn't see much. Where could I go to find some listings of houses that need renters or something like that? TIA

    Re: House Hunting

Probably aren't many listed as most tenants sign 1-year lease. Expect the craigslist ads to increase after the end of the semester. If you know any students that currently rent a house, ask who they rent through - when I was a student I rented my house through a guy from Nevada who owned a couple houses in Ames that he rented out to students. There are a lot of people that do this and don't really advertise, so you may have to do some sleuthing to track them down.

If you google house renting in Ames or something you can find companies that rent out houses. I live on Campus which is a nice short walk to campus.

It is kind of a PITA. I remember seeing some properties put signs out, so you might have to do some walking or driving around and just look.
