    Another Spygate?

Spygate II? Denver Broncos under investigation by NFL - ESPN

Might be hard to prove that it gave them an advantage, considering Denver lost the game in question. Still, it's a little suspicious that it involves some of the same people who were with the Pats when they got busted for the same thing.

    Re: Another Spygate?

I've been wondering, is this practice illegal in baseball as well? I know they don't have the coaching structure pasted all over the stadium like they do in football. And personally, I don't find it that big of a deal. Because playing baseball my entire young life, even in little league, we were taught, while on second base, watch the catchers signals and see if you can figure them out. I just always assumed that stealing signals was part of the game. Isn't that why all coaches cover their faces whenever they say anything?

Stealing signs is not exactly what they're talking about, though. They're talking about videotaping an opponent's practices before a game. There's a big difference between that and attempting to decipher play call signals during a game, in my opinion.

    Re: Another Spygate?

The original Spygate scandal with the Patriots was taping teams signals during a game. I don't see why that should be against NFL rules but it is.

Taping their walk-through practice the day before? Probably a little different.

This. I have a feeling that teams don't go to all the elaborate lengths they use during games when they are just practicing. If you get a tape of the practice, you know exactly what/who to look for on game day.

That being said, I see no problem with taping on game day. A team would probably need tapes from multiple games to determine what signals are real and what ones are just there for spoofing purposes. You would have to run these side by side with footage of the actual game. Again, I see no problem with this, although it would probably provide a HUGE advantage in late season/playoff games.

Sounds like a $100,000 fine. That happened pretty fast.

Filming San Francisco 49ers cost Denver Broncos, coach Josh McDaniels $100,000 - ESPN

Considerably less than the punishment for the original spygate.
