    Cheating in Sports

Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen was sacked by his team after winning Wednesday's stage. Before he was sacked his overall lead was considered nearly insurmountable.

What did Rasmussen do wrong? He missed two random drug tests and provided some incorrect information about his where abouts last month.

Barry Bonds should take notice since the evidence against him is much more compelling, yet he continues to play.

And an American is in third place.

The perception is that bicycling is the "dirtiest" sport. However, that reputation is largely because bicycling has more extensive drug testing than other sports and the punitive ramifications are more severe when caught cheating.

Rasmussen had ridden a solid tour through today..this is just a shame. Yet another black-eye for pro-cycling.

    Go Alberto and Levi....

If Rasmussen was to be kicked off his team, it should have happened before the tour began. From what I have read in the media, the allegations against him (that he missed a couple of random drug tests in May and gave incorrect info about his where abouts several months ago) had surfaced long before the tour started.

Agreed, that is why I find this so disappointing. Rasmussen has been a joy to watch this last week. I followed him when he was a pro mountain biker riding for Trek/Gary Fisher and enjoyed having him in the yellow. oh well.....

Actually there is 1 sport worse than cycling. Cross Country skiing is the worst doping sport. All those guys are on EPO.

Yeah I heard about those missed tests before the tour started. I am not a nut cycling fan, but I follow it pretty closely during the summer because, lets face it, it is the best sport going on right now.

    Re: Cheating in Sports

Sitting here thinking about it, Vinikourov was booted earlier in the week, and now Rasmussen. Landis allegedly failed last year... This is NOT good for cycling. That sport already had to deal with the loss of their Michael Jordan and now the remaining players are sitting there on the bench doping themselves up to try and bask in his glory. They should cancel the tour for a few years, and come back and try to figure this out.
