Twins fans.....Twins win bid for negotiation rights with Tsuyoshi Nishioka

This could be interesting. Surprised the Twins won the bid. He was last year's batting champ in the Japanese Pacific League. He is 26, shortstop and 2B.

Probably....they have 30 days to negotiate a contract. Not so sure he would bring much more of a bat than Hardy, but he would definitely add speed defensively, and on the base paths, which the Twins need.

At a cursory glance, looks like it could be a nice pickup, gotta like the plate discipline, though I didn't see K numbers.

Also, JJ Hardy would be more likely to stay and Orlando Hudson would be more likely to leave. If that's the case the Twins would move this guy to 2nd and that would be a LOT better than Casilla.

Keith Law said he was "valuable as an everyday guy on a second-division club," so I'm not so sure you want to get too excited about him.

I had heard comparisons to Ichiro, but he definately doesn't look like him at bat. Keeps his weight back.

This is what I'm thinking, will be quite disappointed if they let Hardy walk as well. I remember one of the selling points of acquiring Hardy for Gomez was that Hardy would have at least 2 years with the Twins, so I do doubt they'd let him slip.

That choice is no longer up to the Twins. It's up to Hudson.

The Twins offered Hudson arbitration, so if Hudson accepts, the Twins HAVE to keep him at a salary set in arbitration. The only way Hudson leaves now is if he declines, which is certainly a possibility, but the Twins have no say in it anymore.

If by comparison to Ichiro they meant he is also Japanese, then yes he's exactly like Ichiro. I can compare Jeff Francouer to Lou Gherig too but it doesn't mean they are remotely similar players.
