    Big 10 Arrogance

Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee: TCU, Boise State not worthy of BCS title shot - ESPN

I do know, having been both a Southeastern Conference president and a Big Ten president, that it's like murderer's row every week for these schools. We do not play the Little Sisters of the Poor. We play very fine schools on any given day.

-- Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee

too bad BSU has shown they can beat top 10 schools from real conferences

There is nothing wrong with what he is saying. I'm pretty sure most of the Big 12 nation feels the same way.

A month and half to prepare for a bowl game is different than an 8-9 week successive schedule of high-quality, physical football teams that test your attrition, depth and true moxy.

    Re: Big 10 Arrogance

if you put BSU in the Big 10 or Big 12 or even the SEC this year they win at least 9 or 10 games. they can compete with anyone on any given saturday. they wont however get that chance because "real" schools are too afraid to play them. most of the teams i have them losing, they probably could win but they would be pretty close

    Big 12 Losses
    OU, OSU

    Big 10 Losses
    maybe wisconsin and tOSU

    SEC
    Auburn, LSU, Alabama

Yeah, and they end up not playing in the championship game. Do they deserve the BCS? Sure, but not the NC game.

I'd say they would probably be a 8-9 win team in the SEC and a 9-10 win team in the Big 10 and Big 12. They are good, but I don't think they are deserving of the national title.

Isn't that what about 90% of posters on CF are saying as well? I know this flies in the face of blind hatred of all things Big 10 related, but that would make the majority of ISU fans that post here just as arrogant?

As far as my opinion is concerned, if either TCU or Boise St ends the season ranked #2 in the BCS, then they deserve to be in the title game. Those things are absolutely rigged to keep those schools out of it, and if, by playing by those rules they beat everyone at their own game, then the "well, they'd only be an 8-9 win team in a BCS conference" excuses fall flat IMO. If you play by the rules of a system that is rigged to keep you out and you still find yourself qualifying for the championship game, then you deserve to be there.

He has a point. I mean look at their bowl records over the past few years. They have been DOMINANT against other conferences.

    2003: 3-5
    2004: 3-3
    2005: 3-4
    2006: 2-5
    2007: 3-5
    2008: 1-6
    2009: 4-3

    Re: Big 10 Arrogance

Boise State would not win either division in the Big 12 or the SEC. They would not finish higher than 4th place in the Big 10. They simply do not play anything close to a tough conference schedule. Unfortunately the current situation favors a Boise State but things will eventually start to change.

    Re: Big 10 Arrogance

I wish the BCS wouldn't have ******* out and let TCU and Boise State get a shot at some big teams in the bowl games last year. I would have loved to see them against Iowa.

I wonder if Gee realizes his head coach was hired because of his success at the I-AA level (Youngstown State)?

    Re: Big 10 Arrogance

If teams that go undefeated and are quality teams such as Boise State and TCU cannot get to the title game, then that is unfair. It is not like these teams came out of nowhere. They were Pre-season top 10, and have moved up from there. They have beat and for the most part beat all opponents soundly. I hate the BCS, when weak coferences are gurenteed spots like the ACC and Big East every year then the process is a shame. If there ever was a year for all the blow hards and conference big wigs to be put in there place it is this year. Let Either BSU or TCU play for the title, assuming Oregon or Auburn lose, and let's see what happens. Me thinks that the BCS is scared crapless to let that unfold because what if BSU or TCU would beat Oregon or Auburn in the Title game, then all those reasons why the do not belong go out the window. I for one would love to see BSU or TCU paly for the tile, and I for one think they will do just fine. Let's let all teams have a chance, not just the ones who have better history and bigger bank accounts.

This is simple. Ohio State cannot compete with Boise. They have a blue field.
