Plasma or LED based on where you put it and type of viewing.

I think that 4 color thing is a bunch of bull.

I have a Samsung LCD and a Panasonic Plasma and the LCD broke within 3 months. With that said, I think it was a rare issue and Samsung replaced it with a new one that has worked fine.

Samsung customer service is some of the worst that I've ever experienced but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

Re: LED, 3D, or the 4 color TV's (RGBY)

Just bought a Samsung 3D plasma about a month ago to replace an older Mitsu DLP that died. Didn't get it just for the 3D, which is still pretty much just a novelty. Got it for the picture quality, which just freakin' rocks. Can't answer to the long-term reliability, but I love watching sports on it. Looks so real and lifelike, you almost see depth of field in high-def 2D programming.

Re: LED, 3D, or the 4 color TV's (RGBY)

Will a LED (backlit LCD) have burnout/imprinted colors burned in cells more than a standard LCD when used as a monitor?

I also heard the 3D outperforms LEDs in 2D. True?

I agree. I don't think that the yellow would make a meaningful difference.

Although some of the commercials for the 4-color are hilarious. "You can see the difference... Well, you can't right now since you're using a regular TV. But if you were here with me you could see the difference."

Have to agree it's nothing more than marketing bull. But yet they know that they are going to sucker those that don't have a clue how additive color works, as they'll proclaim "my TV's better - it has yellow color!"

Additive color - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When you flash both the red and green light in the same pixel, you get yellow. In other words, that yellow pixel does nothing for your picture. But a lot of suckers will buy into it...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
