Next Home Game: ISU v. Lindenwood, a brief preview.

The one aspect that jumped out at me, comparing both teams, was how much more experience Lindenwood puts on the ice than ISU can:
    Lindenwood -- 5 seniors and 6 juniors
    ISU -- 5 seniors and 2 juniors
Both teams field two senior net minders:
ISU -- Erik Hudson (career): 104 GP; 2.68 GAA; 12 SO; 91% Save Percentage. Per Erik Hudson's ACHA web-page (American Collegiate Hockey Association Hockey Website Software By GOALLINE.ca).

Lindenwood -- Robi Cavallari (career): 69 GP; 1.95 GAA; 8 SO; 92% Save Percentage. Per the Lindenwood Lions website (Lindenwood University Athletics - 2010-11 Men's Ice Hockey Roster).
From what I've observed, the Lions play a very physical brand of hockey. Should the Cyclones absorb the punishment in good shape, they should be very competitive against the Lions. Goalie play is also a strength for the Lions as I have observed, so putting intense pressure with lots of shot attempts on the opponent's net is imperative. The Lions are ranked #1 for good reason; keeping them on the defensive as much as possible gives the Cyclones their best chances to win.

BTW, Lindenwood University is a NAIA school located in St. Charles, MO.

No date was given when the Cyclones play Lindenwood. As you may recall, Lindenwood defeated the Cylones in the National Championship game last spring, defending their title they won the prior year by (when they defeated University of Illinois/Champaign/Urbana).

I was down visiting my children a couple weeks ago and got a chance to see Lindenwood play UIUC. UIUC was ranked #1 at the time. Lindenwood won both games Friday and Saturday and was clearly the better team, and have moved into the #1 spot.

Best of the luck to the Cyclones when the meet. I will be pulling for a Cyclone victory, hoping they play their best, as they will likely need it.

Iowa State v Lindenwood this weekend. Friday night at 7:30 Saturday night at 8:00. Lindenwood is the #1 team in the country and the team that beat ISU in the National Championship game last year. It would be great to have a full house as they take these guys on. Lets all show up and be loud and proud. GO STATE!!!!!

Huge games this weekend. If you want to see good hockey, this is the best team that will be coming to town this year. It's too bad they are Lindenwood because the fans tend to come to the games against Iowa, Kansas, etc. who aren't nearly the talent level of Lindenwood.

There will also be a silent auction for the jerseys the guys are wearing. The proceeds go to MDA.

According to cyclonehockey.com the MDA jersey auction is next Friday during the Iowa game.
