Can someone summarize our MBB transfers?

Assuming they all stick around for 2011-12, how much eligibility will they have?

    Royce White, Babb, etc,

    Thanks

It appears we will be very deep for the foreseeable future, assuming the current roster stays and we get any incoming talent next year.

White would only have 3. Used up 2 of his 5 last year and this year, unless he gets a hardship waiver, which would be uncredibly unlikely.

I don't know about Booker. Was he at SIU for 2 years? I was thinking just 1, but could be wrong.

Yeah, forgot about White already using a year lat year.
Can't Booker use his redshirt this year to make it 2, or did he already use it up?

Re: Can someone summarize our MBB transfers?

Coach went over them briefly in the call in show today.

Chris Allen is a SG from Michigan State. He has 1 year left. He played a lot at MSU, on some really successful teams. He's pure shooter, as coach said "he has unlimited range". Coach also said he scored 28 in the first intersquad scrimmage. He also said Allen was ranked around 29th in the country out of high school.

Chris Babb is a SF from Penn State with 2 years left.

Royce White is PF from Minnesota with 3 years left after this year (I'm assuming the 5 years to play 4 rule applies starting last year). He's a big body bruiser, a Fizer-type, who was a top 20 ranked player out of high school.

Anthony Booker is a PF/C from Southern Illinois with 2 years left.

John Lamb is a walkon SG who transferred from Morehead State. He is originally from Indianola. He has 1 year left.

Interestingly, Coach said on the call in show that the scout team lines up like this:
    PG: Bubu
    SG: Allen
    SF: Babb
    PF: White
    C: Booker

I was surprised Bubu was in there. I think there's a decent shot that he could be the starting PG next year.

Not surprised to see Bubu on the scout team. Who else are you going to put there (just a question...not trying to be a smart ***)?

I do agree with you about his potential to...maybe...start at the point next year. I've said this before...if he was ANY threat to shoot, Bubu could be extremely dangerous. He is VERY quick, as in short burst, but I would say he is also the fastest guy on the team from baseline to baseline with, or without, the ball.

Certainly possible, but I'd bet on McGee taking over the PG position or maybe even Chris Allen sliding over to handle the point allowing someone like Ejim to sneak into the lineup as well.

    G - Allen
    G - Babb
    G - Ejim
    F - White
    F - Booker

Would be pretty nasty. You could slide out Babb and put in McGee at point also.

He didn't play much at morehead state or wherever he came from. Watched him play in high school. Nothing real special.

You misunderstood me. I thought he only played 1 year at SIU and would thus have 3 more after this year's redshirt. I could definately be wrong though.

The soon to be promoted scout team should have good chemistry for next year.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

Re: Can someone summarize our MBB transfers?

assuming all the transfers stick around, it will be very interesting to see what line up we start next year.. if we play a traditional G,G,F,F,C line up i'd bet we'd see

    PG: McGee
    SG: Allen
    SF: Ejim
    PF: White
    PF/C: Booker

but i could see us using an almost villanova style line up of..

    PG: McGee
    SG: Allen
    SG: Babb
    SF: Ejim
    PF/C: White

...but also you cant forget about Scott who has been one of our best players and will be our top return off this year's team. Add that to Godfrey and Railey hopefully improved and would be solid bench bigs, an athletic energy guy off the bench in Elgin Cook, and tons of guard depth in SC along with Phillips, Bubu, Sledge, and Odunsi. We're going to be DEEP and very talented. We could be one hell of a ball team next year.

..and i dont want people to forget about Odunsi. Everything that people are saying indicates this kid is physically ready to come in and compete in the big XII right away and is a strong defender. With all these other offensive weapons, it's always great to have a sure handed guard who can play some lockdown defense off the bench.
