    North Carolina loses again

Not even going to talk about HB, but I wonder how far UNC drops from #8 in rankings now that they are 2-2. They are the media darlings, so I figure they'll still be in the 18-22 range.

In today's local news, Harrison Barnes left Ames to play for a bad team.

Losing to a teams coached by Tubby Smith and Kevin Stallings in November does NOT equal being a bad team. Minnesota and Vandy both have respectable teams this year.

They are as bad as they were last year, which is bad for Carolina.

You are way off on this one. It will be a miracle if UNC misses the NCAA tournament this year.

I think this thread is about UNC basketball, not the players who chose to go to the school. Please try to keep up.

    Re: North Carolina loses again

I really don't understand why they were preseason top 10. Very mediocre team last year. But the media loves the name, loves the coach and thinks HB is the baby jesus. To me, they are still second fiddle to Duke. I gotta say, I'm gonna enjoy watching HB develop even if it is under the deputy dog's watch. During his 0-12 night against MN he was definitely frustrated, but kept his cool and kept attacking. Kid has a great head on his shoulders.

They're much more talented this year but they so far they are having the same problems they had last year. Their starting pg, Larry Drew III, is a turnover machine and they also have no consistent low post scoring offense. All of Roy's good teams have one thing in common, good pg play (Jacque Vaughn, Hinrich, Felton, Lawson), and his teams struggle when they don't have a good leader at point.

All those McD's All Americans and they've already lost twice this season. How bad would Roy be as a coach if he didn't have a roster full of All Americans?

They lost to two unranked teams. Since Minnesota won the the tournament they will not fall too much due to that loss. It is the loss to Vanderbilt that should drop them a good amount of spots. I say they will be #21 in the polls.

Roy is a great recruiter but just an average coach. He has never been a great coach. I can't think of another coach who deserves his reputation less.

KU has dominated the Big 12 under Self more than they ever did under Roy.

There are plenty of coaches who would be undefeated with UNC right now. Roy has 2 losses.

I watched Barnes the whole game. He is pretty good. However if a team takes him number 1 next year over some other guys they are crazy. I would rather have Sullinger at Ohio State. I watched him play and that kid is a beast. Hell Ejim is playing better than Barnes so far.

Barnes doesn't have NBA strength/body yet. If he is a stud in the league he'll be a stud the way Kobe was where he developed at 21-22, but wasn't quite there from 18-20.

You're correct to say a player like Ejim passes the NBA eye test right now more than HB. If HB shows other skills this year he'll still get taken high with teams hoping he can develop more physically.

LeBron, who was the best physical specimen in the league at 18, has kind of warped our perception of what a player right out of hs can be. For guards and wing players someone like Kobe or HB who still needs to develop physically while in the league is a lot more common.

    Re: North Carolina loses again

HB reminds me of Marvin Williams from UNC. He was the 6th man off the bench at UNC. Drafter around 6th then was a mediocre player for atlanta. Averaging around 9 a game.
