Thumbs up Star Wars: Darth Bane series

I just recently started reading the first book of the Darth Bane series, titled Path of Destruction. This is my first experience reading a Star Wars book, but it won't be the last. It is really interesting to learn more about the Sith from their perspective. I have nearly read the whole thing in a few days, which is really fast for me. I am compelled to find out what happens next, really great story so far.

Has anyone else read these books? Are the other two as good as the first? Are there any other books in the Star Wars saga that are must reads?

I started with the first post-Return of the Jedi book, by Timothy Zahn, called 'Heir to the Empire'. This was the first of a trilogy, and are very good books. I've read many of the other post-RotJ books, but I never got into the recent ones that involve an alien species that invades from outside the galaxy.

Re: Star Wars: Darth Bane series

I am a star wars junkie so I will apologize in advance. I have read the darth bane series and enjoyed it. However it pales in comparison to the following:

Thrawn trilogy: takes place after return of the Jedi about 5 hrs
Thrawn duo logy: follow up on previous
Many single books, would recommend any of them
New Jedi order series is like 26 books or so and deals with the main characters about 30 hrs after return of the Jedi.
Lagacy of the force series and legacy of the Jedi series are follow ups to the new Jedi order. Both are 9 book series.

All are fun reads and if your are just getting into star wars books get on the Internet and find the chronological order of them and go crazy.

    Have fun!!!!

    Just my opinion...

One of my friends is trying to read his way through everything, but I believe there are literally hundreds. He was pretty well hooked on them.

Those three were good. Psalamiri (sp?) were a very interesting creation.

Re: Star Wars: Darth Bane series

I just started the third Bane book, and have read most of the others already mentioned. If you plan to continue reading as many as you can, I'd recommend going in chronological order since all the books are interconnected with events that take place in each. Remember that some of the books were written before Episodes 1-3 came out, so there are a few minor inconsistencies when the books talk about the past.

Shadows of the Empire is a good single book, taking place between ESB and ROTJ. There aren't many books that give you some good Darth Vader! Another with him I really liked was Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, taking place right after ROTS.

'Death Troopers' was a good (though quick) read, it's set a year or so before New Hope.

Re: Star Wars: Darth Bane series

Curiosity question (and I haven't looked it up yet): Do they publish these as Kindle Editions?

Someday, I want a Kindle, and these would be a fun way to pass some travel time.

Re: Star Wars: Darth Bane series

I just looked it up and it looks like some of them are on Kindle.

I recently read through Crosscurrent and Riptide and would recommend them as well. Note: You may want to read the Thrawn Trilogy first as there are some potential spoilers for that series if you read these two first.

Took you over 2 years to find that? There must be a ton of books then...

Ha - No I actually just so happened to stumble on that old thread and wanted to provide an update for someone else who enjoys the books. You are right though that there are a TON of Star Wars books out there.
