    Shrine Game - recruitin

Boy, it was discouraging to see the number of "Players" in the Shrine game who were committed to UNI. Sure hope Chizik can turn things around instate, but it doesn't appear to be happening this year. There seemed to be a lot of kids listed in the program who were "noncommitted", but had good GPAs. Anyone know if we are picking us some of them as walkons?

It's not a very good year at all for recruiting talent in-state, so don't get too broken up.

If they are going to UNI, I think theres a pretty good reason why ISU and Iowa passed on them. Good for UNI though, I am sure the state was rich enough with talent to make them competitive at a high level in 1AA.

Who won the MVP's for the two teams? I saw the south QB had a heck of a game, so I'm sure he won the Offensive for the South, but I couldn't find it for sure.

    Re: Shrine Game - recruitin

I wouldn't be discouraged about the situation in terms of Iowa State, but rather the state of football in Iowa. there have been several threads in the past centered around this topic and I'm not trying to bring it up again, but all in all, even in the best years, Iowa is not going to produce bushels of D-I talent. It's just simple demographics.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

I understand where d30fan is coming from. It is strange that we didn't see any Iowa State commits in this game.

But d please remember that we wasted a lot of scholarships on marginal Iowa kids over the years. I don't think that will be the case anymore.

From watching the replay of this game, I can see why so many of these guys are going to UNI.

Oh, I didn't know that. I'm watching the replay of the game and the announcer made some remark about how Brown better get used to the Jack Trice Stadium. You might be right though, Marv Cook never looked very intelligent.

    Re: Shrine Game - recruitin

Last I had heard was Fabian was going JUCO but is expected to eventually make it to ISU if he is able to earn solid grades at the JUCO.

Will Eilert was also in the game. He was the DE from Grinnel that had committed to us but then Chizik told him they were going to move in another direction so to look elsewhere. He seemed like a pretty good kid.

I was around the players somewhat during the week and I was a little jealous of the players Iowa had signed. Bernstein, Sash, Sandeman, Nielsen and Reisner (sp?) They all seemed like good kids.

Sash was the best player in the game by a mile in my opinion.

    Re: Shrine Game - recruitin

Fabian Brown is not listed on the ISU roster at the Cyclones website. He and OT Campbell of Georgia are the only 2 players who signed a letter of intent this year who are not listed.
