Re: Rivals rankings of assistants coach

Wally is easily one of the top 30 assistants in the country. This guy really likes Herman. I'm glad he's here. His offense frustrates me greatly sometimes but I feel bad judging him until he gets a QB of his own to run his offense.

Perhaps true, but I think he's a bit high at 24. If they start playing in the top half of the big XII offenses in a year or two, then I'd agree with the ranking.

Once TH gets his system fully running, with his type of recruits, it will be deadly. They really showed flashes this year, but stalled at times too.

wally should be ahead of herman

i think they ranked herman high because most ppl feel like he's got the potential to be a head coach somewhere someday since he's young, etc.

These are the things I dont like to see of our assistants. I would prefer they succeed and go unnoticed.

Re: Rivals rankings of assistants coach

It's assistants who are "moving up". Maybe they don't consider Wally since he's up there and almost certainly not ever be a head coach.

Re: Rivals rankings of assistants coach

It's not a ranking of assistant coaches at all, it's a list of assistant coaches who have good shots at getting head coaching jobs. Herman isn't even the best coordinator at ISU, but he's young, smart and had a lot of success before. They probably expect him to have more success here. A lot of this is based off of his reputation more than what he's done here.

Re: Rivals rankings of assistants coach

Norm Parker was not on that list either. I didn't go over that list with a fine tooth comb but most on it were relatively speaking the 'Young Guns' of college coordinators and assistants.

They looked pretty good against the #4 defense in the country.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
