Good find outta you. Thats him im sure. I sat in the 1st row, and the closest i got to em was that they sat in the 1st row on the other side off the court. But all the body language seemed like Cory was the elder. Semmed like he was saying follow me, sit here, ill be back. I know it Cory's home turf, but since he looked like mini-cory, i assumed he was younger.

The Concordia College Cobbers (love the name!)...is that who we beat out for the services of Cory Johnson?!?

I hate to be a smart aleck and a pessimist about the Johnson kid but as I have said many other times, I just don't believe he is "Big 12 material".

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

I think you are way off here... Cory might be the most talented offensive player we have, he is just playing out of position, he isn't a center... He may be strong enough to hold his own there for a bit, especially defensively, but overmatched by a much taller player... That being said I think he CAN be an all conference type power forward, especially with his moves around the basket.

Cory might not be the perfect body type for his position but he showed me a lot last year. He did a hell of a job holding Greg Oden in check for a lot of minutes when most other post players couldn't.

There is something to be said for heart and desire at any level. Give him another year, he'll find his niche.

I have no problem with Cory J. His motor is always seems to be running, he's well liked by the team, he has been willing to play out of position, and I do believe he is in better shape this year. Hopefully he will get the opportunity for 15 to 20 minutes per game.

I completely agree, nfrine, specifically about Cory playing out of position. I think he'll be a solid contributor, and the incoming class will hopefully let him play where he's supposed to instead of where he's needed to fill holes in the rotation. It was only his freshman year. Cory didn't play as well as Wes, but nobody expected Wesley to be as good as he was.

    Re: Cory Johnson's lil brother

My point has always been that this kid has no position to play at this level...too small to play inside and too slow to play outside.

I live out of state so I don't get to see as much ISU BB as I would like to but what I saw on this kid last year was frankly not that impressive.

I hope I am proven wrong.

I went or watched every game... I think he can play 3, 4, and 5 at this level... having said that he would have a hard time matchng up on D at the 3, he has straight line speed, but not overly quick. At the five, where he played most last year, he is strong enough to give a different look defensively, especially since he is the strongest guy on the team, but he will have a tough time playing back to the basket against a taller guy... If we could get him in there with a true center at teh 4 he could really excel... He has a very good mid range game and the best low block face up moves on the team... I have no doubt he can not only play but play very well in this league... Look at Brunner at Iowa... Cory is a similar size, much stronger, better leaper, quicker and has a better shot... I think he can hack it ; )

Brunner's motor was what made him pretty decent. I'm not sure CJ has that. Hope so.
