    Hilton - scalping tix

I haven't tried in a long time to scalp tickets to a basketball game. How tough is it to pick up a pair in the parquet and are they much over face value (obviously depends on the game)?

Pet peeve of mine, but when did the definition of "scalp" expand to include the buying of resold tickets? Scalping is the selling of tickets at more than their face value. That's why the sellers are called the scalpers. You are looking to buy scalped tickets from a scalper; you aren't scalping them unless you plan to resell them again for more than their face value.

I know it's not a big deal, but I have seen that on here a lot lately. Do people hear scalp used that way a lot now?

I always think of selling when people say scalp.

Very easy, there are always 3 regulars there. From my experience trying to buy from others bypass the two that stand south of the tunnel and go to the guy that stands just south of the south entrance steps.

Also many times others are standing there selling their extra tickets.

You forgot to mention look for the the large guys. All 3 brothers from my hometown, if they don't have them you don't need them. OP, get a card from cory and he can get you tix for any game you want in future also.

sorry i annoyed you today, but i understand scalping to be as the definition below....someone reselling tickets to an event at a price defined by the individual in possession. So person A if someone buys a large amount of tickets from source B (not sure if person B is licensced, but is not doing for free), then sells them to person C at a profit - that would fall into the definition of scalping.

Definitions of Ticket scalping on the Web:
    • Ticket resale is the act of reselling tickets for admission to events. Tickets are bought from licensed sellers and are then sold for a price determined by the individual or company in possession of the tickets

Isn't that what the ticket office is for?

since the tickets are already sold they would get the money without you...supporting the athletic department is good also.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

I have season tickets, but sometimes I check to see if better tickets are availiable for cheap. As many times they are not "scalpers" rather season ticket holders just trying to sell that game while cutting some of thier loss.

I am the guy everyone is talking about. To answer a few questions: I am a donor at Iowa State. I went to college here as well. My next door neighbor was Dedric Willoughby. I have a list of customers that buy seats from me all the time because they get good seats. I am very respectful of each and every cyclone fan. If you want to get them from the window great. Won't be as good of a seat but thank you for supporting our university. If you want good seats on average they will cost you 25 to 30 a game. Lower level good seats. More for bigger conference games as expected. Remember these are all donor seats so I don't get the definition of scalping. This is also legal in Iowa and most other states for that matter. If you need a good seat you know where to find me.

I support them by putting a butt in the seat and spending 20-30 bucks on concessions, etc when I get in stadium. If I didnt buy on the street from scalpers, I wouldn't have that extra money to spend once I get inside. Also, I sat center court second row for a game against KU a few years back from tix I bought from scalper, awesome time, awesome seats I never would have gotten if it weren't for that option.
