    Single Game Tickets

There are still going to be a TON of single game tickets sold (excluding Iowa). Homecoming, Parents Weekend, UNI, Texas, Oklahoma and a "Thursday Night Game" will all be huge draws. The number of casual fans only wanting to purchase tickets for one or two games will "Pack the Jack"

Go Cyclones--it's going to be a great year!

    Re: Single Game Tickets

Hopefully we can get more than the 35-40 thousand through the gate for last years Thursday opener. Come on people, leave work early! We got there late(only 5 hours before kickoff instead of 6) and we were shocked we didnt see more people.

We went about 2 in the afternoon. The NCC lots were empty until just before kickoff. It was hard to get into the game atmosphere out there by yourself.

I already took thurs and friday off.

    Re: Single Game Tickets

    Ok, Short answer
Thursday is supposed to be better for student attendance and total over all. That is fine and is a valid reason to go to Thursday.

An even better reason is the extra practice time it allows.

However, it really throughs a challenge into families, those working, etc.

Be on the lookout for the 5:30 traffic jam as everyone has to arrive at once.

They are not there later becauase they want to be, but because many have no other option.

Gotta love a five day weekend, I'm off Thu and Fri... Might have to go in a bit Saturday just to save some sanity Tuesday though...

I will be there by 1pm in the NCC lot and am taking Thurs-Friday off.

Having said that, allow me to revoice my opinion...Thursday night games suck as*.

    Re: Single Game Tickets

I love the Thursday games! Admittedly, it's a little tough to get to my Friday 8am, but it's worth it. You can't play D-I college football on Friday nights because of the high schools, and by the time Saturday comes around, almost all of the students are gone for the Labor Day weekend. That's the whole point of having the game on Thursday- to get the students there. You just have to plan ahead, which it sounds like *most* of you are doing. Not being able to get trashed 6 hours before kickoff for one game isn't the end of the world, folks. If it's that crucial, have the spouse/teenage child drive while you sit in the trunk, out of sight of cops, and throw back as much alcohol as possible during the drive to Ames. That way, you can stagger out of the car upon arrival and immediately have the full gameday experience! Hope it's worth fussing about.

See you all at the game, and go State.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Doesn't do much for class attendance on Thursday or Friday but... maybe that's where half the fun is!

Do that many students really leave Ames on Labor Day after being there for only a week? I know most of my friends and I stay.

Yes, surprising as that is. I don't see the point, but whatever; to each their own. I guess a lot of families have Labor Day traditions. It's not like the campus is a ghost town, but a very significant portion of the university leaves town, with lots of students skipping some or all of Friday's classes.

My guess is only freshman. I mean how many people leave any weekend except during breaks.

I'm ambivalent about the thursday nite games. And will be there at the Jack. If you guys really don't like the thursday nite games, why don't you start a letter writing campaign email will do I'm sure, to Jamie Pollard and the powers that be.

Thanks for posting this. I am a student myself, so I will be able to be at the stadium well before kickoff, but it always kind of irks me when people post messages sort of "challenging" others' comitment because "they can't get there 5 hours before kick off on a thursday night game".

Come on people, not everyone is single and lives within 15 minutes of the stadium. People have families, people have jobs, people live hours away. The fact that these people even have tickets/season tickets and are comitted to make the journey at all is a testament to their support for the Cyclones. As much as we all love ISU and sports in general, there are some things in life that take priority. So, get off your high horse already and just enjoy the game.

Along the Big Sioux basin (Iowa & South Dakota Border), there is a growing number of die-hard clone fans. Many can only purchase single game tickets simply because of logistics (9 hr round trip). Nonetheless,
the excitement for Cyclone athletics is really growing in this part of the state. There is going to be a landslide of single game tickets purchased come Aug 1st.
