    stop-gaps

I'm disappointed that so few of McDermott's first class hasn't panned out. I didn't really expect it to be all world, but I also didn't expect to lose 3 guards and have to start over with a new guard court two years in a row.

Admittedly, the only guard I'm all that upset about losing is Dodie, as he had the most upside. If any of the new guards can create off the dribble, they can't really be a step down from Mike. He was our leading scorer because no one else could, however, he was a gamebreaker in the other direction sometimes as well.

So any one loss doesn't hurt, its just losing the entire starting gaurd court that hurts. Lets hope that McDermott's first REAL class is more well behaved and this isn't a sign of things to come.

I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. He really had to scramble to put together that first class in a short amount of time, and couldn't be as selective as he would have liked. He will do just fine in the future.

i too only really was sad to see dodie go. it would have been nice to hold on to degand and carr, but they werent GMacs class. carr simply for experience and degand i think wouldve been good.

but like cig-man said, those guys (Mike T, Dodie, Corey Mac) were thrown together at the last minute so i wouldnt worry too much. these incoming SIX guards will run the show just as well.

    Re: stop-gaps

Stinnett hurt himself playing pickup ball so he had surgery opver ayt Creighton. He was not such a loss if he was injured...

Looks like we cannot recruit enough good guards. Maybe Eickmeier will a freshman starter guard in 08. Swingin' doors. Do not let it hit you in the dierre as you leave.

CFH HMagic bball season next year.

    Re: stop-gaps

GMac was dumped on by all of Wayne's players. He got who he could and did a pretty good job of coaching a mess of a team. Part of the reason ISU got someone as talented at MT so late in the recruiting season is he, and I suspect all the other guys signed late, had some issues.
