Tiller vs Capello - individual strengths?

Can anyone summarize what Tiller brings to table that Capello doesn't? And what Capello brings that Tiller doesn't? What about a combined effort on Saturday? Any early indication we may rely on both QBs?

Not sure anyone but the Capellos have seen Capello throw a pass. Therefore it is impossible to tell what he has that JT does or doesn't

No way the QBs split snaps. Consistency is what we need in a game like this and with Tiller you don't have to change the offense up too much from what you'd run with Arnaud other than simplifying things. Capello will only come in if Tiller gets hurt or pulled.

I'm sure that there will be a QB competition in the spring and maybe into fall camp, but this week it's Tiller's job full time.

Re: Tiller vs Capello - individual strengths?

I anticipate lots of blitzing by Mizzou, I would say 60% - 70% of the time. UNI proved this was how to beat Tiller. The CU coaching staff needs credit, they watched the UNI game film and saw Tiller (along with the o-line) cannot handle blitzes.

I am really scared about Saturday, could get REAL ugly.

Re: Tiller vs Capello - individual strengths?

Tiller is more mobile (although Capello is no statue based off what we saw against Utah) and has a bigger arm (based off of what we saw in the Spring Game), but Capello is probably a little more accurate.

At this point, Tiller gives us the best chance to win. We can't dumb anything down, we have to go out there and the run the offense. If we can control the line of scrimmage and establish the run game, we can set up play-action which should help Tiller throwing the ball.

Re: Tiller vs Capello - individual strengths?

I have a question: How many threads are you going to start this week.

    To answer:

Tiller: Probably more athletic, has previous starting experience, bigger arm, seems to be a very good runner in space, slightly bigger guy.

Capello(limited action): Perhaps more accurate, mobile enough to make plays, that's it.

We just don't know much about Capello. Also, I would like to point out that no matter what happens here TIller is just a RS So. Please don't forget that.

I'm willing to bet Capello is our quickest QB.

From the limited amount I have seen him, he reminds me of a less polished Tate Forcier. He seems like he could be very slippery in the pocket. Having said that, I just think Tiller brings something when he gets to the second level, maybe just a little breakaway speed. I always had the impression Tiller was a bigger guy as well but he's not listed that way.

Re: Tiller vs Capello - individual strengths?

JT has a lot more gametime experience, he's got a big arm and doesn't limit what we can do in the running game. Honestly I don't know much about Capello, from whats been said he's very accurate, he showed, some athleticism the Utah game and he seems to be a winner, other than that all I can tell ya is that from the comments they've made on this board he comes from a great family and is thrilled to be a Cyclone. Regardless of how this plays out, the extra practice either of these guys could get from a bowl game would do wonders for their development next season.

Re: Tiller vs Capello - individual strengths?

There is no way that Capello plays Saturday unless Tiller is hurt or throws 6 picks. Nothing to do with Capello, but when you lose your starting qb, you don't have time to get two qb's ready to start/split time in one week. This is no knock on Capello, I think he has a great future and spring/fall will be a great competition. This week is about getting as ready as you can be to win and that means most all of the reps go the Tiller in practice this week. Capello gets enough for emergency replacement

Re: Tiller vs Capello - individual strengths?

Give Capello another spring and summer to work and he'll beat Tiller out. IMO, i think Barnett will be starting next year anyways. That kid has gotten twice as strong and twice as much arm strength in a short time then i have ever seen.
