    Cyclone Notebook
    - The Cyclones opened their 38th season on the right note Sunday, disposing of Western Illinois, 58-32, at Hilton Coliseum. The win marked the 499th of head coach Bill Fennellyís career. With his next win, Fennelly will become the 41st Division I coach to reach 500 career wins.
    - The Cyclones were led by Kelsey Bolteís 25 points against the Leathernecks. Bolte shot 8-for-10 from the field, including a perfect 6-of-6 from 3-point land to become just the seventh Cyclone to make at least six threes without a miss in a game.
    - After allowing the Leathernecks to shoot 37 percent in the first half, Iowa State held Western Illinois to just six points on 2-of-20 shooting in the second half. The six points allowed was the fewest ever in a half by the Cyclones under Fennellyís direction.
    - The Cyclones scored 17 second-chance points in the game and 12 points off of WIU turnovers.
    - Iowa State has won 50 straight regular-season non-conference contests at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones have not lost a regular-season non-conference game at home since the 2003-04 season (Washington).
    - Since Fennellyís arrival, Iowa State is 201-34 (.855) in games played at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones have never lost more than five home games in a season under Fennelly.
    - The Cyclones have an overall record of 570-502 (.532) and are 286-140 (.671) all-time at Hilton Coliseum.
    - ISU has made 11 trips to the NCAA Championships and is one of just 20 teams to boast four straight NCAA berths, and one of just five squads to make the NCAA Sweet 16 in the last two seasons. Iowa State also has a pair of Elite Eight berths.
    - ISU has finished in the top four of the Big 12 final standings in four of the last six campaigns, and Iowa State is tied with Texas Tech for the second-best conference record in Big 12 history (139-85).

    What A Start!
    - Bolte got off to an impressive start with her 25-point night against Western Illinois. The senior hit 8 of her 10 shots from the field, including 6-of-6 from 3-point land.

The 25 points is the most by a Cyclone in a season opener since Angie Welle (27) and Tracy Gahan (26) against Iowa in 2000. She also became just the seventh Cyclone to hit six threes in a game without a miss.

    A Closer Look at Drake
    - Drake, which was picked to finish seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference, opened its 37th season Friday evening with a 71-54 win over UMKC at the Knapp Center in Des Moines.
    - Kristin Turk tallied 22 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring. Rachael Hackbarth (18), Amber Wollschlager (15) and Angela Christianson (12) also scored in double-figures for the Bulldogs, who shot 55.8 percent (24-43) from the field in the game.
    - Drake got to the free throw line 31 times against UMKC, making 20 of the attempts. The Bulldogs held a 32-16 edge in points in the paint.
    - The Bulldogs went 15-15 overall and 7-11 in the MVC in 2009-10.
    - Drake averaged 9.5 steals per game in 2009-10. In the season opener, the Bulldogs had six steals.
    - Including a pair of exhibition wins over Upper Iowa and Quincy, Drake has won its games this season by an average of 24 points per contest.
    - Head coach Amy Stephens is in her eighth season as head coach of the Bulldogs. Stephens boasts a record of 119-99 at the school and is 316-142 in 16 seasons as a head coach.

    Series Notes
    - Drake leads the all-time series 26-23, but the Cyclones hold a 13-9 edge in Ames.
    - The Cyclones have won the last three at Hilton Coliseum and five of the last six in the series.
    - Drake won last seasonís meeting 78-75 at the Knapp Center. It equalled (Oklahoma State) the most points that ISU allowed last season. Kelsey Bolte had 18 points but it was offset by Drake shooting 49.1 percent from the field. Rachael Hackbarth paced Drake with 20 points.

    Letís Get This Thing Started
    - Iowa State has started every season under Fennelly with a win and has been 2-0 in 10 of 16 seasons. The best starts under Fennelly came in his first season (1995-96) and 2001-02 when ISU opened with 12-straight wins.

Bolte Among Big 12ís Active Leaders
    - Bolte ranks third among active Big 12 players in career points with 1,107. The senior sharpshooter is one of just four current players in the league to reach the 1,000-point mark:

    1. Brittany Spears, Colorado 1,553
    2. Danielle Robinson, Oklahoma 1,516
    3. Kelsey Bolte, Iowa State 1,107
    4. Kat Nash, Texas 1,075

    Trey Bien
    - Iowa State has made at least one three-pointer in 484 consecutive games dating back to 1995. That streak ranks second in the nation. Canisius College unofficially holds the longest current streak at 486 consecutive games.

Not for the game; just the media interview afterwards.
