    With Tiller starting next week....

... will we see much change in the play calling? What will the offensive strategy be?

Personally, I'd like to see us go a lot more up tempo... ala Oregon.

Try to take advantage of Tiller's running ability and speed. Run up to the line of scrimmage after a play is over and just go. Let Tiller run or pitch. And then throw in a few play action passes to Franklin for good measure to keep them honest.

Missouri is weak against the run, so make them stop us on the ground first.

    Thoughts?

With his arm, he can also throw deep, if we have anyone who can run like Lenz.

Difference will be more roll out passes. They will roll him out and give him just half the field to look at. It's obvious the coaches don't trust him to look at the whole field. So they will simplify it for him and give him 2 reads. Plus rolling him out gives him the choice to run, pass, throw away

    What's his TD/Int ratio?

How much has he played to really judge that? He had 2 INTs in the TAMU game last year, one of few times he's really had meaningful playing time, other than nebraska, which was called conservatively to limit chances of a turnover.

I really hope they open the playbook a little more with JT. We really need to take some more shots deep. Nobody has played back on us because we never threw farther than 5-10yrds. Only way this works tho is if the Oline plays 10x better than they did today. The kid has an arm, just needs some time to show it off.

Re: With Tiller starting next week....

It will basically be the same offense. I'd like to see some more naked bootlegs with JT to utilize his legs and speed. Whatever happens, CPR and Herman are gonna throw the kitchen sink at Mizzou. Last year ISU scored on a half-back pass and a tackle pass in Columbia. I expect to see a bunch of gadget plays and trick plays.

Last game of the year Brent. Can't hold anything back now.

This makes a ton of sense. Roll him out, give him half the field to look at, make a couple reads, and if nothing is there just take off running.

Obviously there will be a ton of zone read plays no doubt, but why not also pick up the tempo some? Don't stop and look to the sidelines on every play. Just run up to the line and snap it more often. Keep it simple, but keep the pressure on Missouri's defense all night long. Wear them down.

You can't go deep if your line doesn't block. He's going to get killed if we call deep routes.

If anything, the playbook will be closed a bit. They generally don't let JT throw downfield (not that we do that much anyway).

Absolutely NOT taking anything away from AA... I'm rather excited to see Tiller out there again. He can "sell" that play-action-fake better than anyone. And even when he has to force a pass out there, he seldom misses the mark. That said, I don't know his TD : to turnover ratio. I'm just hoping like everyone else, he lights up the Missouri secondary with many points on the board.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited too, but it's a cautious excitement. It's the kind of excitement where I hope I can find reason to believe we will win 9 games next year.

I think we need to just cut him loose completely. Let Tiller do it all. I know he'll only have a week to prepare but I don't think he is going to go in with the same mentality we wanted him to when he played against Nebbie last year.

Me too, I am in no way excited about AA being hurt. Anxious is probably the better word, I am anxious to see what next year will bring us
