    In the end....

... the difference between making a bowl game or not just might have come down to taking a knee at home with 40 secs left, 3 timeouts, the wind at your back, and only 40 yds to gain.

I said it after last week.... there are NO guarantees in life. Many people said it was just another game and that we'd be locking up our bowl eligibility against CU anyway. How do you feel now?

I still believe we have a 50-50 shot at beating Missouri at home, and I really hope we do, but during a season you just never know what single moment can determine your fate?

So leave it all out there. Play to win the game. You may not get another shot. It happened to Iowa last year at Ohio State, and it happened to us this year against Nebraska. Kneel down instead of trying to win the game.... and it costs you.

It sickens me to think how close we were. Oh well... we've still won 2 more games this year than I thought we might. Rhoads is building something here, and we'll be pretty darn good in a few years. Let's get Missouri next week and go bowling! This team deserves it. I just hope we don't take a knee in that one too, and are then left wondering all year.... what if?

This is a pathetic post. You need to step away from the computer for a week or so

Then why do you continue to act like had we not sat on the ball in that situation, that we'd have gone down the field and won the game guaranteed?!

Okay, so starting from the 20, you're looking to go 40 yards. That would get you to the Nebraska 40-yard line to set up for what would then be a 58-yard game winning field goal attempt.

Yes, I realize Mahoney made a 57 yarder before the end of the first half in that game, but when I'm looking to attempt a game winning field goal, I'm looking to attempt a more high percentage field goal. Which is from 45 yards and on in. Which then I need to get to the 27-yard line to lineup for that 45-yard attempt. Now I'm looking at going 53 yards in 40 seconds instead of 40 yards. That is a tall order, even with 3 time outs.

You simply can't go 0-2 against K-State and Colorado.

If anything costs us a bowl, it will be that.

So when this season is over, and if we end up one win away from going to a bowl, you still wouldn't have wanted to take a shot at a 57 yd FG when your kicker made one from that same distance earlier in the game going in the same direction? I'd take that chance every time.

Too many people were on here saying after the Nebraska game that that game didn't cost us a bowl game.... and all I was saying is... "how do you know that it didn't cost us a bowl game?". There was no guarantee that we'd win one of our last two games at that point.

I'd ALWAYS rather go down fighting than throwing in the towel. Had we tried to win the Nebraska game in regulation, and AA threw a pick six to lose the game... at least I'd know we went down fighting. Now I don't have any idea what would have happened. It will always and forever be a "what if".

How did ISU throw in the towel? Its called picking your battles. That and your argument is void because hindsight is 20/20. Please stop. I am completely okay with the play calling in that game.

When did we throw in the towel vs Nebby?
