If they're going to use a picture for the article, they could at least make it a picture of one of the teams being talked about.

I've always had a blast tailgating in South Bend, and they have some of the best game day traditions. I would definitely put it in the top 5.

And South Bend is far from a **** hole.

Campus and atmosphere are amazing but the city is a dump and pretty grimy.

    Re: Five fan-favorite tailgating towns

I have never been to the south for any tailgates, but from everything I have heard, it would be awesome!

I am surprised that more midwest schools (Wisconsin?) didn't make the list. ND is fun, but I think a lot of that is that there is so much tradition. I also thought ND was too segregated, I happened to be tailgating at a nice spot because of who I knew, but if I went there to set up my own tailgate I would have been 2+ miles from the stadium.

Washington makes these lists simply because they have the Puget Sound right next to the stadium so boats are involved. Overrated IMO.

Before I die, I want to go to a rivalry night game at LSU, and tailgate all day. That gameday atmosphere has got to be insane.

Considering the hotel they build for donors across the street from the stadium, I'd say it is. I got to stay there when I was visiting as a prospective grad student. The place was amazing. Its like the campus is built around the football stadium.
