    Rematch N. Illinois

This may have already been posted, but one of ESPN's bowl predictions has us facing N. Illinois again in the little Caesars bowl. Personally I would rather go to the New Mexico bowl just because we already played them and I want see how we can do against someone else, however, a bowl game against N. Illinois and we will be able to go into it fairly confident of a victory. Any thoughts?

    Re: Rematch N. Illinois

Not gonna happen. If it had been an overtime or really tight game then maybe, but given the outcome such a bowl wouldn't be attractive to the fans of either team or to a TV audience.

These bowl prediction aren't researched at all by the guys throwing them out. Kinda like how Northern Illinois is ranked above us in the Rivals 120. Outside the top few bowls/teams they just toss stuff out there without any review.

    Re: Rematch N. Illinois

I don't see how NIU doesn't go to a better bowl than us. They're 8-2 (6-0 in conference) and most likely going to finish the regular season 10-2 with a chance to go to 11-2 after their conference championship game. Their only losses are on the road to us and Illinois. If they finish 11-2, they should go to a better bowl than that.

It made me happy to watch N. Illinois dominate last night, because they are single-handedly guaranteeing that ISU's bowl game won't be in Detroit.

That's a **** poor bowl projection. They do everything possible to avoid rematches. Since that's not a Big 12 tie-in game, no way do they choose ISU to face NIU. Will not happen.

They won't set up a rematch unless it's going to make more money. It's safe to say we won't play NIU anywhere.

They'll go to the MAC #1 (or MAC #2 if they lose the championship) bowl. They won't get bumped to the BCS or something for going 11-2 in the MAC with losses to ISU and Illinois.

I personally hope for a better bowl game than the New Mexico bowl, I live 15 miles from it. Detroit or New York? Albuquerque would be much better from a weather perspective! Playing Idaho...........WTF? Projections by ESPN etc are just that.... I think the Cyclones would get a better bid due to the travel of our fan base. After all not much goes on in Iowa in December.

NIU doesn't go to a better bowl than us because the three automatic bids for the MAC are the Little Caesars' Bowl in Detroit (can get MAC 1, 2, or 3), the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile (can get MAC 1, 2, or 3), or the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise (can get any MAC team).

Unless a MAC team somehow happens to sneak into the BCS picture, by contract a MAC team will NEVER be in a better bowl than ISU - unless they happen to be playing in that bowl game.
