    Nagging Concern

The Cyclones have two games left in the regular season. Will they be left out of post season play if they do not win both games? Will 6 wins get them into a bowl game?

They will consider our SOS and how well we travel, CPR and other things. There is no way we get left out.

    Re: Nagging Concern

Well, the announcers during the NIU/Toledo game said there might be more bowl slots than eligibile teams. I think that leaves a 6-6 ISU fine. Remember, we didn't schedule 2 FCS teams or anything like that (what were you guys thinking there?)

    Re: Nagging Concern

That one I can answer. Snyder saw no way his team would win six games last year.

My concern is for ISU as they are my second favorite team. They have battled too hard this year to be left out. I would hate it if theteam's bowl prospects were left to the whim of the selection process. GO CLONES! Beat CU and MU!

No chance in hell we'd get left out. Does that answer your question?

    Re: Nagging Concern

Theres 2 conferences currently without a bowl eligible team. The Big East and maybe the Sun Belt(?)

Theres a chance they canp;t fill up their slots. That might mean a real unspectacular bowl during the 1st wave/week of them. But its still a Bowl and the extra practice.

    Re: Nagging Concern

I wouldn't worry. We got in last year with a 6-6 record and with this year being an even tougher schedule I would be completely shocked if we didn't get back in with a 6-6. Besides, we're gonna end up 7-5 when it's said and done.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Syracuse is bowl eligible, but the Sun Belt doesn't have any.

    Re: Nagging Concern

Any and all 6-6 teams shouldn't be bowl eligible anyway.

I give credit to the bowl orgs and commities who basically coerce these Universities into paying them alot of money just so those teams can thump their chest and say they went bowling.

The entire bowl concept has been watered down to a level that it has lost just about everything that it was suppose to represent.

Everyone is a champion, everyone gets a blue ribbon, everyone is a winner.

    Re: Nagging Concern

For me it's the extra practice the team gets. I could care less about what bowl we'd be in, as long as we get the practice time to help us for next year. I'm sure the players are pumped to play in a bowl, but I'd be willing to bet the coaches care more about practice time. There's a reason they only spend a couple days to gameplan for the team they're playing (unless it's a major bowl).

I think yes, but maybe just this year, not a couple of years ago.

What ISU fans should be watching is not where they project ISU to go, but the overall number of at-large bowl selections predicted. Four weeks ago, most of the sites had about 4 at large spots being filled by other 6-6 teams. Currently, many have 6 and I think one site predicts 7 spots will have to be filled by 6-6 at large teams.

ISU would be at or near the top of anyone's 6-6 team list. So I am very comfortable predicting we make it easy at 6-6. Just may not be a very good bowl.

But I would also love to see us at 7-5 and put the whole debate to rest with a Big 12 bowl.

+1. Took the words right out of my mouth. Things associated with making a bowl listed in order of importance....

    1. Extra practice time.
    2. Hoping your game is in an area close to a recruiting hotbed.
    3. Hoping your game gets on a decent network at a decent time.
    4. Playing in the game itself.

I'd also throw the money that we get for going to said bowl in there as well. Couple hundred thousand never hurts.

They even said NCAA may decide to let a 5-7 team go. UNI may win the MVC and NIU may win the MAC. UNL may win the Big 12. Iowa may win the Big Ten. Unfortunately, Utah will not win the MWC.

That is a start if things go south the next two weeks. That is why we need to not be blown out at all costs.
