Really good article about problems at Texas

This is as really good article about the problems with the Texas Longhorns football program. As usual, good reporting from the OWH. (Des Moines Rag needs to take notice)

Interesting take on the situation at Texas. I disagree that naming Muschamp as successor was a bad idea. If anything, it will make the players work harder because they know that if they are going to have another head coach while they are there, he is probably watching them already. That has to be the least of their problems right now. They just have a bunch of highly touted recruits with big egos that are really underachieving and not playing as a team. End of story.

Re: Really good article about problems at Texas

There are 3 problems at UT:
    1. Their QB is horrible and it appears that despite all the top of near the top recruiting classes, there is not a decent QB on campus
    2. Their OL is also horrible, and it really wasn't that good last year, Colt McCoy was just good enough to make plays
    3. These guys have no idea what it is like to lose games on a regular basis, so they really don't know how get back up after being knocked down. Instead of a mantra of we always want to improve every week, they are "We are Texas, we can't lose.

Intreresting points on Hawkin's kid going for the passing record - I mean, your up 28 points, one priority - end the game by running out the clock - my guess is this is why he was fired now and not at the end of the season

Muschamp may take umbrage to what Brown said about the asst coaches when they lost to ISU but if UT played with any semblance of fire that the ISU team plays with they would probably be undefeated with the talent they have.

Good reporting by the OWH? I would call it needless obsessive reporting by a NU fanbase and media that is still paranoid about Texas. A fanbase and media that is a paranoid and jealous extension of Tom Osborne, the one responsible for NU's exit to the B10.

You want really interesting, this post from our site was picked up nationally, we'd have been better off taking a knee on EVERY play in from the 11 minute point of the 4th:

Hardly obsessive. Lee Barfknecht is the Big 12 beat writer for the OWH and doesn't cover the Huskers. He has pieces about all the teams in the league on a regular basis. Every week he attends a non-Nebraska Big 12 game as part of his duties.

Seems so obvious to me that their problems rest 95% with the QB. Not that I know anything...

Re: Really good article about problems at Texas

Texas' problem, to me, is they haven't gotten over losing to the Cyclones at home and are seriously doubting themselves. The Longhorn players' passion for the game is nowhere near like last year. No one on that team is having any fun right now and they're playing like it. UT played relaxed and had fun in the Nebraska game, hence their victory. UT is too talented to be in their current situation, but they're tense and angry -- not a formula for success on the field.
